Definition of the Celestial Ephemeris Origin and of UT 1 in the International Celestial Reference Frame ?

چکیده
The adoption of the International Celestial Reference System ICRS, and of the corresponding Frame, ICRF, by the 23rd General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union, calls for a redefinition of the departure point on the true equator. Several possibilities have been suggested. This paper considers the use of the non-rotating origin (Guinot 1979). The " Celestial Ephemeris Origin " (CEO) is defined here as the non-rotating origin on the equator of the Celestial Ephemeris Pole (CEP). Developments valid at the microarcsecond, based on the best model for precession, nutation and pole offset at J2000.0 with respect to the pole of ICRF, are provided for computing the CEP coordinates and the position of the CEO. It is shown that an operational definition of UT1 based on the CEO leads to values which are insensitive at the microarcsecond level to future improvements of this model.

Symplectic and symmetric methods for the numerical solution of some mathematical models of celestial objects
In the last years, the theory of numerical methods for system of non-stiff and stiff ordinary differential equations has reached a certain maturity. So, there are many excellent codes which are based on Runge–Kutta methods, linear multistep methods, Obreshkov methods, hybrid methods or general linear methods. Although these methods have good accuracy and desirable stability properties such as A...
متن کاملAnalysis of Ephemeris Errors in Autonomous Celestial Navigation during Mars Approach Phase
A Celestial Navigation System (CNS) is a feasible and economical autonomous navigation system for deep-space probes. Ephemeris errors have a great influence on the performance of CNSs during the Mars approach phase, but there are few research studies on this problem. In this paper, the analysis shows that the ephemeris error of Mars is slowly-varying, while the ephemeris error of Phobos and Dei...

Celestial positioning has been used for navigation purposes for many years. Stars as the extra-terrestrial benchmarks provide unique opportunity in absolute point positioning. However, astronomical field data acquisition and data processing of the collected data is very time-consuming. The advent of the Global Positioning System (GPS) nearly made the celestial positioning system obsolete. The n...

We show how the study of variations in orientation of a terrestrial reference system (TRS) in space may be done directly in terms of the motion of the pole of the TRS and rotation around it, and how a separation of these variations into low frequency and high frequency (retrograde and prograde diurnal, semidiurnal, ) bands enables one to characterize and model variations belonging to the variou...
متن کاملThe adoption of ICRS on 1 January 1998: meaning and consequences
As of 1 January 1998, the celestial reference system adopted by the IAU will be based on a set of extragalactic directions, replacing the Fundamental Katalog No 5 (FK5) that gave star coordinates in a reference system (referred to as equator and equinox J2000) based primarily on the dynamics of the solar system. This change is deeper than a mere replacement of a reference system by a better one...
