a rare variation of the human median nerve direction

چکیده
introduction the brachial plexus, a complex network of nerves, innervates to the upper limbs. variation in the course of the nerves in the upper limb is common. case presentation this paper describes two cases of upper limb variations in a cadaver dissected at lorestan university of medical sciences. in the first variation, the median nerve in the arm has a different route, so that the median moves deep into the brachialis muscle. in the latter case, after piercing the coracobrachialis muscle a musculocutaneous nerve exists between the brachialis and biceps and goes to the lateral region of the forearm. this is known as the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm nerve, and innervates the skin of the lateral part of the forearm and the dorsal part of the hand. conclusions because of the possibility of damage to the brachial plexus branches is high in upper limb injuries and surgeries, full knowledge of normal anatomy and variations of these branches is essential for orthopedic specialists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, and anatomists.

A Rare Bilateral Variation in the Formation of Median Nerve
The median nerve is formed by fusion of lateral (C5-C7) and medial (C8, T1) cords from the brachial plexus. Bilateral variations in the formation of median nerve are very rare. One of such variations was observed during the dissection of the upper limb of approximately a 30-35-year-old man cadaver, according to Grant s method. The median nerve was formed by the union of three roots on both side...
متن کاملVariation in median nerve nutritional artery at the distal end of forearm: case report
Background: The median nerve is one of the most important branches of the brachial plexus. Due to the role of the median nerve in sensory and motor innervation of the forearm and hand in the upper limbs, its blood supply is very important. Awareness of variations in the blood supply pattern to this nerve reduces the incidence of necrosis and ischemia of the nerve during surgical and diagnostic ...
متن کاملA Rare Anatomical Variation of Sciatic Nerve and its Relationship with Piriformis Muscle
Sciatic nerve is the thickest nerve of the body which is formed by ventral branches of L4, L5, S1, S2 and S3 of spinal nerves as a part of sacral plexus in pelvis. It leaves the pelvis via the greater sciatic foramen below piriformis muscle and descends between the greater trochanter and ischial tuberosity, along the back of the thigh and dividing into the tibial and common peroneal (fibular) n...
متن کاملA Rare Variation of Inferior Laryngeal Nerve: Nonrecurrent Laryngeal Nerve.
A nonrecurrent laryngeal nerve variant of the inferior laryngeal nerve is very rarely seen, and surgeons should keep it in mind during thyroid surgery. Preoperative findings, like situs invertus and dysphagia lusoria, may be suggestive of a nonrecurrent laryngeal nerve. However, these findings always have not to be together with nonrecurrent laryngeal nerve, like our case.
متن کاملVariation of the median nerve course and its clinical importance.
AIMS AND METHODS In our work we present and describe the variation of the course of the median nerve found in both upper limbs of one of the cadavers in our Institute of Anatomy (Medical Faculty, Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia) during the students' dissection of the peripheral nerves and vessels. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION This non-standard course of the median nerve was compared with ...
