lipid peroxidation is not associated with adipocytokines in preeclamptic women

چکیده
background: the association between lipid peroxidation biomarkers and adipocytokines is hypothesized in preeclampsia but little is known about it. objective: the present study was undertaken to determine the association of lipid peroxidation biomarkers measured by the levels of 8-isoprostane and malondialdehyde with adipocytokines leptin and adiponectin in maternal serum of preeclamptic women. materials and methods: a cross-sectional study was designed. the study population consisted of 30 preeclamptic patients and 30 healthy pregnant women. serum levels of 8-isoprostane, total leptin and total adiponectin were assessed using commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay methods. the amount of malondialdehyde was determined by the thiobarbituric acid assay. mann-whitney u test and spearman’s correlation coefficient were used for statistical analysis. results: both 8-isoprostane and malondialdehyde were significantly higher in preeclamptic group than those in normal pregnant women. serum levels of leptin were significantly increased in preeclamptic patients compared with normal group, while adiponectin levels were decreased. serum levels of 8-isoprostane and malondialdehyde did not show any significant correlation with leptin and adiponectin. conclusion: in preeclamptic women, maternal serum levels of leptin and adiponectin were not correlated with lipid peroxidation

Lipid peroxidation is not associated with adipocytokines in preeclamptic women
BACKGROUND The association between lipid peroxidation biomarkers and adipocytokines is hypothesized in preeclampsia but little is known about it. متن کاملAging is associated with increased lipid peroxidation in human hearts, but not with mitochondrial respiratory chain enzyme defects.
BACKGROUND Aging is associated with increased oxidative damage at multiple cellular and tissular levels. A decrease in mitochondrial function has repeatedly been advocated as a primary key event, especially on the basis of analysis of skeletal muscle mitochondria. However, some doubts on this issue have arisen when confounding variables (such as physical activity or smoking habit) have been tak...
متن کاملA subnormal plasma volume in formerly preeclamptic women is associated with a low venous capacitance.
OBJECTIVE Pregnancy induces a smaller rise in plasma volume in formerly preeclamptic women with a pre-existent subnormal plasma volume than in their counterparts with a normal plasma volume. These women also have a three times higher recurrence rate of pregnancy-induced hypertensive disorders. In this study we tested the hypothesis that a subnormal plasma volume in these women is related to a l...
متن کاملLipid peroxidation is not increased in patients with untreated mild-to-moderate hypertension.
In contrast with the huge amount of experimental data available, only few and somewhat unconvincing clinical studies support the hypothesis that oxidative stress is involved in the early stages of essential hypertension in humans. Isoprostanes are chemically stable lipid peroxidation products of arachidonic acid, the quantification of which provides a novel approach to the assessment of oxidati...
متن کاملRare Absence of CD79alpha in B-ALLs is not Associated with Altered Prognosis
Background: The diagnosis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) on the basis of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations in 2016 requires the expression of CD19 with CD79a (CD79a), cCD22 and CD10. CD79a is an integral B cell antigen expressed at all stages. Its absence in B-ALL has only been rarely reported. In this study, we described three cases of B-ALL showing complete l...
متن کامل[Letter to the Editor] DNA Fragmentation Is Not Associated with Apoptosis in Zerumbone-induced HepG2 Cells
Zerumbone is a cytotoxic compound isolated from the herbal plant, Zingiber zerumbet Smith, which exhibits antitumor activity [1-2], anti-inflammatory effects and possesses anti-proliferative potentials in a variety of cell lines [3-4]. DNA fragmentation indicates an early event of apoptosis leading to cell death due to the absence of new cellular proteins synthesizing for cell survival. Previou...
