چکیده

conclusions despite rapidity, automation, accuracy, cost-effectiveness, high sensitivity, and high specificity of molecular techniques, each type of molecular technology has its own advantages and disadvantages. results various types of molecular biology tools can be used to detect and quantify viral genomic elements and analyze the sequences. these molecular assays are proper technologies for rapidly detecting viral agents with high accuracy, high sensitivity, and high specificity. nonetheless, the application of each diagnostic method is completely dependent on viral agent. context to determining suitable nucleic acid diagnostics for individual viral hepatitis agent, an extensive search using related keywords was done in major medical library and data were collected, categorized, and summarized in different sections.

Nucleic acid-based assay for the diagnosis of viral pathogens

Many methods have been developed and applied to diagnose plant viruses. Some of these methods are biological (e.g. indexing on a susceptible plant genotype), others are serological (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay [ELISA] and lateral flow test carried out with either polyclonal antisera or monoclonal antibodies) or molecular (nucleic acid hybridization, PCR or real time PCR). Most of diagnost...

Nucleic acid-based approaches to STAT inhibition

Silencing of abnormally activated genes can be accomplished in a highly specific manner using nucleic acid based approaches. The focus of this review includes the different nucleic acid based inhibition strategies such as antisense oligodeoxynucleotides, small interfering RNA (siRNA), dominant-negative constructs, G-quartet oligonucleotides and decoy oligonucleotides, their mechanism of action ...

Sensitivity and Specificity of Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification Method for Diagnosis of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis

Abstract Background and Objective: Culture, microscopic method is a gold standard method for identification of Lishmania parasite. The use of Molecular methods such as RT- PCR compared to microscopic methods has a higher sensitivity and specificity however, it is not widely used due to its expensive equipment and the time requested. The use of nucleic acid sequence based amplification (NASBA) ...

Real-time nucleic acid sequence-based amplification assay for detection of hepatitis A virus.

A nucleic acid sequence-based amplification (NASBA) assay in combination with a molecular beacon was developed for the real-time detection and quantification of hepatitis A virus (HAV). A 202-bp, highly conserved 5' noncoding region of HAV was targeted. The sensitivity of the real-time NASBA assay was tested with 10-fold dilutions of viral RNA, and a detection limit of 1 PFU was obtained. The s...

Nucleic Acid-Based Therapy Approaches for Huntington's Disease

Huntington's disease (HD) is caused by a dominant mutation that results in an unstable expansion of a CAG repeat in the huntingtin gene leading to a toxic gain of function in huntingtin protein which causes massive neurodegeneration mainly in the striatum and clinical symptoms associated with the disease. Since the mutation has multiple effects in the cell and the precise mechanism of the disea...
