cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive for management of exposed hydroxyapatite orbital implant

چکیده
purpose: to present our experience with cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive in eyes with exposed hydroxyapatite orbital implants. methods: cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive was used in 3 patients with hydroxyapatite orbital implant exposure defects. results: cyanoacrylate glue was applied on the defective area of 3 patients presenting with small exposure (<4mm). the patients were followed for 33 months (range: 20-58 months), no complication developed and the defect size was stable. in one patient after 12 months, the glue was removed and a mucous membrane graft was performed without any complications over a 9 month period. conclusion: cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive application is safe and easy to use; it can be used for treatment of exposed hydroxyapatite orbital implant in selected cases.

Background and Aim: Research on reducing the symptoms and discomfort after periodontal surgery is a priority. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of cyanoacrylate adhesive on tissue healing after periodontal surgery. Materials and Methods: In this split-mouth clinical trial, all patients who needed periodontal pocket removal surgery in two or more sextants were examined after receiving wr...
متن کاملprimary placement of titanium peg on hydroxyapatite orbital implant
purpose: to determine the efficacy of primary placement of a titanium sleeve and peg on hydroxyapatite (ha) orbital implants. methods: this retrospective non-comparative interventional case series was performed on 34 patients undergoing enucleation. a standard enucleation technique with primary ha implantation was performed, in which titanium sleeve and peg were placed primarily during the init...
متن کاملClosure of leaking filtering blebs with cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive.
Five leaking filtering blebs, occurring between 10 months and 21 years after trabeculectomy, were closed with cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive. Filtering bleb integrity was preserved in four cases, so that additional microsurgery was avoided. The only problem associated with use of tissue adhesive was the development of corneal abrasions in three cases. Although it is an accepted treatment for the...
متن کاملMobility of hydroxyapatite orbital implant covered with autologous sclera.
PURPOSE To evaluate the mobility of a hydroxyapatite implant covered with autologous sclera from the enucleated globes of patients with severe atrophy of the eyeball or eyelid retraction. METHODS This implant was used in seven patients with phthisis bulbi. We measured the movement of the implant by photographic analysis of the anterior orbit and by using a strain gauge. RESULTS At 1-3 years...
متن کاملEthyl 2-cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive in partial lobectomy in rats.
OBJECTIVE To determine the efficacy of ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate adhesive in repairing the lung parenchyma after partial lobectomy in rats, in terms of hemostasis/aerostasis, scarring, and surgical time. METHODS The study involved 30 Wistar rats, randomly divided into five groups (one control group and four study groups). In the study groups, the lung parenchyma was repaired with either cyanoacry...
متن کاملOctyl 2-cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive in experimental scleral buckling.
PURPOSE In this experimental study, a sutureless scleral buckling was performed by using a tissue adhesive glue to fixate a silicone band to the sclera. In fact, one of the major risks of traditional scleral buckling is accidental perforation of the bulb, which is more frequent when the sclera is extremely thin as it is in newborns or in eyes with high myopia or scleromalacia. METHODS An enci...
