چکیده
in order to study the effects of fall planting dates on yield and yield components of six cumin (cuminum cyminum l.) ecotypes an experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design as a split-plot with three replications during 2007-08 growing season at the agricultural research station of ferdowsi university of mashhad. three planting dates (18 oct. (first), 8 nov. (second) and 29 dec. (third)) and six cumin ecotypes (torbat heydarieh, khaf, sabzevar, ghaen, ghoochan and rz19) were allocated to main and sub plots, respectively. results showed that the effects of planting dates, ecotypes and interaction effects of planting dates and cumin ecotypes were significant for yield components (winter survival percentage, number of umbel per plant, number of seeds per umbel and 1000-seed weight) and seed yield and biological yield. there was a reduction on yield components (number of umbel per plant, number of seeds per umbel and 1000-seed weight), seed yield and biological yield due to delay planting date from 18 oct. to 29 dec. the highest winter survival percentage was achieved on the third planting date. the highest and lowest amount for all of the traits, were achieved in ghaen and rz19 ecotypes, respectively. according to the useful results and for the deployment of cumin fall planting in other locations of province, continuation of this study to recommended.

متن کاملEffect of Water Stress on Yield and Yield Components of Cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) Ecotypes
Cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) is one of the most important herbs and medicinal plants that allocate main part of medicinal plant export in Iran. This investigation was conducted to study the effects of drought stress on important agronomic traits of different cumin ecotypes from the major cumin cultivation of the country. Forty-nine ecotypes from different regions of Iran were planted in a simple ...
متن کاملUse of microsatellite markers for molecular characterization of cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) ecotypes
In this study, Simple Sequence Repeat markers (SSR) were used to investigate the genetic variation between 49 cumin ecotypes collected from 9 different provinces of Iran. SSR primers Elap1479, Elap040 and Elap1493 showed the highest (89%), while Elap1340 and Elap017 showed the lowest (56%) number of polymorphic bands. Polymorphism information content (PIC) values varied between 0.18 - 0.37. The...

Antibacterial activity of seed extracts of cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) was investigated against 10 gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Disc diff usion method was used to test antibacterial activity. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) were determined by using standard procedures. Th e highest (eff ective) inhibition zone of 16.67±0.47 mm was ...
متن کاملIn planta Transformed Cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) Plants, Overexpressing the SbNHX1 Gene Showed Enhanced Salt Endurance
Cumin is an annual, herbaceous, medicinal, aromatic, spice glycophyte that contains diverse applications as a food and flavoring additive, and therapeutic agents. An efficient, less time consuming, Agrobacterium-mediated, a tissue culture-independent in planta genetic transformation method was established for the first time using cumin seeds. The SbNHX1 gene, cloned from an extreme halophyte Sa...
متن کاملEffect of Cadmium on Germination Characters and Biochemical Parameters of Two Iranian Ecotypes of Cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.)
Cadmium (Cd), being a highly toxic metal pollutant of soils, it inhibits root and shoot growth and yield production, affects nutrient uptake and homeostasis. It is frequently accumulated by agriculturally important crops and then enters the food chain with a significant potential to impair animals and human’s health. Therefore, a study was conducted to evaluate the effects of various Cd levels ...
