the chemical fractionation of zn, pb and cd in contaminated soils before and after batch extraction by edta

چکیده
soil washing by mobilizing is one of in-situ techniques for soil decontamination. applying this technique to the contaminated soils could be followed by many environmental problems. therefore, it is important to study the effective factors on removal of heavy metals from different forms. in the present research, the forms of zn, pb, and cd in three contaminated soils from the zinc-lead smelting plant area in zanjan before and after batch extractions by 0.1 mole of edta per one kilogram of soil were determined using two methods of sposito et al. and tessier et al. the results indicated the higher effectiveness of hot nitric acid in extraction of cd and in turn the higher effectiveness of aqua regia in extraction of zn and pb. the sposito’s method introduced carbonate and residual forms as dominant form for all three metals in all three soils. these forms, particularly carbonate form, showed major removal after washing. the sum of different forms of a given heavy metal obtained from sposito’s method was greater than that of modified tessier’s method. unlike the sposito’s method, in which the dominant removal of pb by edta was from the carbonate form, this removal was from the oxide form in the modified tessier’s method. the highest and lowest removal efficiencies were observed for cd (using sposito’s method) and pb (using tessier’s method), respectively. the mobility factor of zn after batch extraction by edta intensely decreased. additionally, the mobility factor of pb after extraction significantly increased.

An exploratory study on soil contamination of Cd, Zn, Pb was carried out in the surroundings of a historical, abandoned Pb-Zn mining area in Hunan Province, China. The accumulation in soils and representative plants of Cd, Zn, Pb and their chemical speciation were investigated. The obtained results indicated that Cd, Zn and Pb presented a significant contamination compared with Environmental Qu...
متن کاملFractionation of Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn in floodplain soils from Egypt, Germany and Greece
Trace elements are potentially toxic to human life and the environment. Element toxicity depends on chemical associations in soils. Therefore, determining the chemical form of an element in soils is important to evaluate its mobility and bioavailability. Initial soil development in river floodplains influences soil properties, processes and therefore behavior of trace elements. In this study, t...

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
Using isotopic dilution to assess chemical extraction of labile Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb in soils.
Chemical extractants used to measure labile soil metal must ideally select for and solubilise the labile fraction, with minimal solubilisation of non-labile metal. We assessed four extractants (0.43 M HNO3, 0.43 M CH3COOH, 0.05 M Na2H2EDTA and 1 M CaCl2) against these requirements. For soils contaminated by contrasting sources, we compared isotopically exchangeable Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb (EValue...
