potassium application management for potato farming in soil and water salinity condition

چکیده
loss of arable land and irrigation water quality was evident in many parts of the country in recent years, and certainly this non-living stress will be one of the main challenges various crop will be confronted. soil and water salinities’ effects on agricultural production can be studied from different aspects. physiological disturbances in nutrients’ absorption are one of the main disadvantages of salt accumulation. due to the different needs of crops to various nutrient elements, the importance of salinity and its impact on nutrient uptake may also be subject to different forms. potato is sensitive to the soil and water salinity. reduced uptake and transport of k is one of the main reasons for the decline of potato’s yield in the salt stress condition. regarding this, conventional methods of k fertilizers application cannot fulfill high needs of this plant. foliar k fertilizer application can be considered as an appropriate approach to ensure the production of potato in the medium salinity stress condition. regarding potato’s physiology, role of k fertilizer in potato yield formation and its application management in saline condition will be reviewed in the current paper.

Effect of initial soil salinity and subirrigation water salinity on potato tuber yield and size
A ®eld lysimeter study was conducted to investigate the effect of initial soil salinity and salinity level of brackish subirrigation water on tuber weight and tuber size of three potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) cultivars (Kennebec, Norland and Russet Burbank) under simulated arid conditions. Both saline and non-saline initial soil conditions were simulated in a total of 36 lysimeters. Eighteen ly...
متن کاملSoil and Water Salinity
Definitions and forms of salinity All natural waters contain soluble salts. The concentration of the salts determines whether the water is of high quality (drinkable or usable for irrigation without need for special precautions) or of low quality (brackish or saline). Water in the soil also contains soluble salts (sometimes called free or nonattached salts). The amount of salts in the root zone...
متن کاملEffects of salinity and irrigation water management on soil and tomato in drip irrigation
In this research, the effects of irrigation with saline and fresh water through drip irrigation method and using two irrigation management strategies: M1, M2 (M1 is irrigation with fresh water in alternative with saline water, M2 is saline water in first half time of each irrigation event and fresh water in the second half), on the yield, water productivity (WP), soil salinity, plant height...
متن کاملCoffee farming and soil management in Rwanda
Agriculture is the cornerstone of Rwanda’s economy. The authors review how the sector has changed and specifically what soil management practices are now being implemented to enhance coffee production. Coffee covers around 2.3% of total cultivated arable land, and is grown mainly by smallholder farmers on plots of less than one hectare. Rwanda produces high-quality speciality or fully washed co...
متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Citrus in terms of soil and water salinity: A review
Citrus, one of the important fruit crops of the tropics and subtropics, is grouped as a glycophyte. The deleterious effects of salt stress lead to reduction in fruit yield and quality. The response of different citrus species to different salt(s) further brings differential responses, when fruit quality is concerned. The possible mechanisms (physical, nutritional, biochemical), which plants ada...
