چکیده
pulse echo b - scan imaging systems have been used for years in medical diagnosis. the theroy of such systems have been investigated by several researchers. in this paper, we introduce a new model for b - scan imaging system based on gaussian type transducer. an imaging system is normally identified by its point response function. this function describes the image of a single physical point object. generally, derivation of the point response requires extensive mathematical operations and complex integrations; and normally it can not be expressed in closed form. numerical solution to the problem is not always feasable. in this paper, we present an approximate, but practical, method for derivation of the point response of a linear pulse echo system in closed form. the transducer model used here, is assumed to have gaussian field distribution, and defined by 5 parameters: width, length, center frequency. band width, and the time delay the point response is derived in a rather simple form, suitable for mally applications. it can accurately represent an imging system with true gaussian transducer within the far field region. also, by proper adjustment of the prameters, this function can be used as a tool in approximate modelling of non - gaussian imaging systems.

متن کاملPortable polarimetric underwater imaging system with a linear response
Polarized light plays an important role in the underwater environment. Light that is scattered within the water is partially polarized. Biological and artificial systems can exploit this phenomenon. We aim to utilize this phenomenon in a new generation of underwater imaging systems in order to partially compensate for the loss of color and visibility. In order to obtain quantitative measurement...
متن کاملEnhanced resolution pulse-echo imaging with stabilized pulses.
Many pulse-echo imaging systems use focused beams to improve lateral resolution. The beam width is determined by the choice of source and apodization function, the frequency, and the physics of focusing. Postprocessing strategies to improve lateral resolution can be limited by the need for conditioning the mathematics of inverse filtering, due to instabilities. We present an analysis that defin...
متن کاملA Filter-Based Pulse-Echo Coded-Excitation System for Real-Time Cardiac Imaging
A new filter-breed approach to pulse-echo imaging capable of parallel processing of multiple image lines has been developed. A major application of this approach is in true real-time 3D imaging, e.g., in cardiac imaging. The new approach utilizes a set of coded waveforms on transmit and conventional beamforming on receive. The transmitted codes produce a coded wavefront in the region of interes...
متن کاملThe diagnosis of herniated intervertebral disks with MR imaging: a comparison of gradient-refocused-echo and spin-echo pulse sequences.
Axial MR images of 65 lumbar disks with herniated nucleus pulposus imaged by gradient-refocused-echo (GRE) and spin-echo (SE) MR pulse sequences of 200-400/15 with a flip angle of 15-30 degrees was selected as optimal because of its high signal-to-noise ratio and good contrast between CSF, nucleus pulposus, and bone. The GRE technique was confirmed to be more sensitive in detecting prolapsed di...
