چکیده
background: intrauterine device (iud) is an effective and long term method of contraception that can be used without continued effort by the user to prevent pregnancy perfectly. pain during iud insertion is one of the obstacles to properly using the device. thus, using different methods of analgesia and anesthesia to alleviate this pain has been studied by many researchers. this review article also aimed to assess different methods of analgesia and anesthesia to achieve a comprehensive result regarding the issue. the present study was a review of more than 50 articles on the methods of analgesia during iud insertion. the articles are available in pubmed, elsevier, and google scholar databases. unfortunately, no acceptable and ideal way has been found for reducing pain during iud insertion. although para-cervical block showed satisfactory results, more studies and clinical trials are required to be conducted in this area.

متن کاملAre Local Anesthetics Needed for Local Anesthesia?
THIS issue of the Journal contains a very exciting clinical report that describes the clinical efficacy of epidural sufentanil and neostigmine in laboring women. The authors examined the analgesic effects of different combinations of the two drugs without local anesthetic during the first stage of oxytocin-augmented labor. They found that a mixture of 10 g of sufentanil with 500 g of neostigmin...

I totally agree that this makes a difference to the pain experienced by women. I have been fitting ‘coils’ for almost 30 years and when I started was totally reliant ...
متن کاملThe effect of nifedipine and baclofen on spinal anesthesia induced by local anesthetics
The primary mode of action of local anesthetics is through sodium channel and axonal conduction blockade. Local anesthetics have also extensive effects on pre-synaptic calcium channels that must function to stimulate the release of neurotransmitters. Thus, interference with calcium channel conductance may enhance spinal anesthesia with local anesthetics. The present study was designed to invest...
