چکیده

biological control of sugar beet damping-off of rhizoctonia solani ag-4 by two native streptomyces isolates (s2 and c) was evaluated in green house and field conditions. in dual culture, two streptomyces isolates inhibited mycelial growth of r. solani ag-4. besides, volatile components of s2 and c inhibited r. solani mycelial growth for 72 and 74 percentages, respectively. soil treatment either with isolate s2 or c inhibited rhizoctonia damping off in sterilized soil inoculated with the fungal pathogen. isolate c increased plant stand for 76 percentages and was more effective than s2. to elucidate the mode of antagonism, chitinase activity and siderophore production were evaluated. both isolates showed chitinase activity on medium containing colloidal chitin and biosynthesis of siderophore was detectable for both isolates. a three- year study (2005- 2007) was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of s2 and c on control of sugar beet rhizoctonia solani damping off under field conditions. streptomyces seed treatments significantly (p≤0.05) reduced seedling damping off compared to untreated control in naturally (2005) and artificially (2006 and 2007) infested soils. there was no significant difference between the isolates in disease control. seed treatment with streptomyces isolates reduced root rot significantly (p

Unconventional alternatives for control of tomato root rot caused by Rhizoctonia solani under greenhouse conditions

This study was done to assess the antifungal effect of some biocontrol agents effective microorganisms (EMs1), Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Bacillus pumilus, titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles, black cumin and wheat germ oils as well as the recommended fungicide (flutolanil) against root rot of tomato. Moreover, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) examination was completed to identi...

investigation on biological control of sugar beet damping-off disease by some isolates of trichoderma harizanum rafai

due to high antagonistic activity of trichoderma harizanum, 5 isolates t.h.k, t.h.bi, t.h.mo, var33 and torbat vi were selected and their efficacy was studied for controlling sugar beet damping-off caused by rhizoctonia solani, under in vitro and in vivo conditions.  antagonistic ability of t. harzianum isolates was investigated as dual culture on pda in concomitant and sequential cultures, 48 ...

Leuconostoc spp. Associated with Root Rot in Sugar Beet and Their Interaction with Rhizoctonia solani.

Rhizoctonia root and crown rot is an important disease problem in sugar beet caused by Rhizoctonia solani and also shown to be associated with Leuconostoc spp. Initial Leuconostoc studies were conducted with only a few isolates and the relationship of Leuconostoc with R. solani is poorly understood; therefore, a more thorough investigation was conducted. In total, 203 Leuconostoc isolates were ...

Evaluation of yield potential and resistance to rhizoctonia (Rhizoctonia solani) disease of new sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) hybrids

Rhizoctonia root rot disease is considered as one of the important diseases in sugar beet. Using resistant cultivars decreses production costs, especially application of fungicides and increases the efficiency in controlling of root rot disease. Therefore, growing of resistant cultivars is considered the best approach for disease control. To achieve this goal and to determine yield potential of...
