چکیده
in this paper, the accuracy of k- and k- turbulence models in super sonic boundary layer capturing of smooth/rough flat plates have been comprehensively investigated. among these investigations, some sorts of sensitivity analysis, including change in turbulence model, generated-grid density, near wall affects, c magnitude (for boundary layers generated on smooth flat plates), and change in cks, and also k+s (for boundary layers generated on rough flat plates) have been performed. also, the effects of compressibility on the re-laminarization of the turbulent boundary layer have been investigated in details. finally, the accuracy of these turbulence models in capturing cf/cf0 for mach number range lower than 5 have been numerically investigated. to confirm the validity of the results, the numerical results have been compared with some published references.

Transfer of a passive additive in a turbulent boundary layer at very large Reynolds numbers.
We formulate the mass transfer problem for a passive additive in a turbulent boundary layer based on the recently proposed model of the turbulent boundary layer at very large Reynolds numbers. The solutions of three basic problems are obtained. These solutions are self-similar asymptotics describing the mass exchange at its initial stages. The solutions obtained can be used for the construction...
متن کاملNumerical Predictions of Turbulent Mixed Convection Heat Transfer to Supercritical Fluids Using Various Low Reynolds Number k-e Turbulence Models
There are a number of systems in which supercritical cryogenic fluids are used as coolants or propellant fluids. In some modern military aircraft, the fuel is pressurized above its critical point and used as a coolant to remove heat from the aircraft engine. Accurate prediction of heat transfer coefficients to turbulent flows of supercritical fluids is essential in design of such systems. One o...
متن کاملInteractions within the turbulent boundary layer at high Reynolds number
Simultaneous streamwise velocity measurements across the vertical direction obtained in the atmospheric surface layer (Reτ 5 × 10) under near thermally neutral conditions are used to outline and quantify interactions between the scales of turbulence, from the very-large-scale motions to the dissipative scales. Results from conditioned spectra, joint probability density functions and conditional...
متن کاملDecay of turbulence at high reynolds numbers.
Turbulent motions in a fluid decay at a certain rate once stirring has stopped. The role of the most basic parameter in fluid mechanics, the Reynolds number, in setting the decay rate is not generally known. This Letter concerns the high-Reynolds-number limit of the process. In a classical grid-turbulence wind-tunnel experiment that both reaches higher Reynolds numbers than ever before and cove...
متن کاملA Novel Similarity Solution of Turbulent Boundary Layer Flow over a Flat Plate
In this paper, the similarity solution of turbulent boundary layer flow on the flat plate with zero pressure gradients is presented. By employing similarity variables the governing partial differential equations are transformed to ordinary ones with inconsistent coefficients and solved numerically with the use of Runge–Kutta and shooting methods in conjunction with trial and error procedure. Fo...
متن کاملObservations on High Reynolds Number Turbulent Boundary Layer Measurements
An experimental study that examines spatial resolution effects on the measured streamwise velocity component is presented. Normal hot-wire measurements for mean flow velocity profiles, streamwise turbulence intensity profiles in addition to their respective spectra at different levels within the turbulent boundary layers will be presented. Measurements were carried out at Reynolds number based ...
