چکیده
objective: stress and other emotional distress are prevalent among cardiovascular patients. this study is performed to investigate the effect of medical counseling on stress and physiological factors of patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery (cabg) and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (ptca). methods: this study is of experimental type with pre-test, post-test and control group. our sample consisted of 60 patients selected by a randomly accessible method and placed either into the experimental group or the control group. stress was measured by perceived stress scale (pss) and physical factors data were obtained from patients’ files twice, before and after medical intervention. results: findings showed that post-test stress in experimental group was less than that of pci patients, though not significant. data were analyzed using spss and mancova. conclusion: medical counseling lacked any significant effect on stress and physiological factors of these patients. the experience of stress in cardiac patients seems to be unique and different from other people, thus its measurement requires a scale specifically designed for these patients.

Assessment of patients skin dose undergoing coronary angiography and Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
Background: Practice of interventional cardiology procedures such as Coronary angiography (CA) and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) has largely increased in recent years and is now changing to a matter of routine in many hospitals. The purpose of this study was to measure skin and organ doses in patients undergoing CA and PTCA and to find a probable relation with c...

In our first 169 consecutive patients admitted to undergo percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) serial bicycle ergometric exercise sessions were scheduled to assess long-term exercise performance. In 160 of these 169 patients (95%) an average of seven ergometric measurements were available during a mean follow-up period of 29 months (range 1 to 60 months). Two groups were formed...
متن کاملThe Effect of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction on Anxiety and Stress in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery: A Single-Subject Study
Background and objectives: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is associated with negative emotions of anger and stress, which are one of the nonclinical risk factors of the disease. Therefore, evaluation of the effective therapeutic models alleviating the patients’ negative emotions is of paramount importance. This study aimed to examine the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on ang...
متن کامل[Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)].
In 1959, Dr. Mason Sones reported on selective coronary arteriography, a technique that quickly became the standard for precise diagnosis of coronary artery disease. In the early 1960s Drs. Dotter and Judkins introduced the original concept of using a catheter to dilate an atherosclerotic obstruction in a peripheral artery. Now, almost 2 decades later, the selective coronary catheter is being p...

OBJECTIVE Patients who undergo successful percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) may subsequently require operative myocardial revascularization. This review examines whether prior successful PTCA alters outcomes following subsequent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The costs of interventional cardiology procedures and definitive surgery were also examined. METHODS From ...
