چکیده
a total of 116 marine fishes and sediments were collected from persian gulf shore near bushehr in order to isolate vibrio species. after culturing on thiosulphate- cirate- bile salts- sucrose and with biochemical tests, 30 isolates showed vibrio characteristics which were categorized in 7 vibrio species, v. anguillarum, v. alginalyticus, v. harveyi, v. vulnfiicus, v. ordalii, v. carchariae and v. splendidus. in pathogenicity evaluation of vibrio isolates for rainbow trout(oncorhynchus mykiss, walbaum), v .vulnificus, v. angillarum and v. ordalii resembled the most pathogens. antigonistic effects of the isolates were determined using supernatant assay and double-agar layer method. three isolates, v. alginolyticus, v. splendidus and v. haveyi were separately incorporated into the feed and fed to rainbow trouts for 14 days at doses equivalent to 107-109 cells g-1 of feed and fish were challenged with pathogenic vibrios. whereas the untreated controls experienced survival rate of 46.6-53.3% when challenged by immersion with v. vulnificus v. anguillarum and v. ordalii, the probiotic treated groups remained healthy with a high survival rate of 93.3-96.6%. the probiotic vibrio species studied in this research reflected stimulation of innate immunity, namely enhanced phagocytic activity and phagocytic index of kidney macrophages and respiratory burst activity of neutrophils.

Environmental Predictors of Pathogenic Vibrios in South Florida Coastal Waters
In 2007, diseases caused by Vibrio vulnificus and other Vibrio species became nationally notifiable in the United States because of the potential severity of bloodstream infections. Direct contact of open wound with seawater and the ingestion of contaminated oysters are the principal modes of transmission. Presently, no clear environmental predictors of oyster contamination are known. This stud...

This study was carried out to investigate the occurrence of potentially pathogenic species of vibrio in sea water and estuarine environments of the Caspian Sea in the Golestan province of Iran. A total of 127 water samples from coastal waters as well as from river and estuaries were collected and analyzed by culture, during April and September 2001. Following prompt centrifugation, the resusp...
متن کاملComparison of the heme iron utilization systems of pathogenic Vibrios.
Vibrio alginolyticus, Vibrio fluvialis, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus utilized heme and hemoglobin as iron sources and contained chromosomal DNA similar to several Vibrio cholerae heme iron utilization genes. A V. parahaemolyticus gene that performed the function of V. cholerae hutA was isolated. A portion of the tonB1 locus of V. parahaemolyticus was sequenced and found to encode proteins simila...
متن کاملCharacterization of the Secretomes of Two Vibrios Pathogenic to Mollusks
Vibrio tapetis causes the brown ring disease in the Japanese clam Ruditapes philippinarum while Vibrio aestuarianus is associated with massive oyster mortalities. As extracellular proteins are often associated with the virulence of pathogenic bacteria, we undertook a proteomic approach to characterize the secretomes of both vibrios. The extracellular proteins (ECPs) of both species were fractio...

Cholera is a potentially epidemic and life-threatening secretory diarrhea characterized by numerous, voluminous watery stools, often accompanied by vomiting, and resulting in hypovolemic shock and acidosis. It is caused by certain members of the species Vibrio cholerae which can also cause mild or inapparent infections. Other members of the species may occasionally cause isolated outbreaks of m...
متن کاملBiodiversity of vibrios.
Vibrios are ubiquitous and abundant in the aquatic environment. A high abundance of vibrios is also detected in tissues and/or organs of various marine algae and animals, e.g., abalones, bivalves, corals, fish, shrimp, sponges, squid, and zooplankton. Vibrios harbour a wealth of diverse genomes as revealed by different genomic techniques including amplified fragment length polymorphism, multilo...
