چکیده
background and aims . periodontitis is a multifactorial disease. varieties of microbial and environmental, as well as genetic factors are reported to influence risk for periodontitis. the present study sought to test the putative involvement of il-10 and il-18 gene polymorphism in pre-disposition to periodontitis in patients had exposure to chemical agent as a risk factor for periodontitis development. materials and methods . in this retrospective cohort study, 82-chemical-injured patients selected according to inclusion criteria (lack of disease in soft and hard oral tissue, excluding dental caries or periodontal disease, free of orthodontic appliances, not received drug, non-smoker, and lack if systemic disease were examined with use of periodontitis clinical criteria (clinical attachment loss, probing depth, bleeding on probing) at periodontology department, dental clinic. patients were assigned into two groups with periodontitis and without periodontitis. a blood sample (10 ml) of each participant was tested by use of polymerase and il-10 and il-18 polymorphism determined. data were statistically analyzed using t-test by spss software to detect polymorphism and genetic differences between two groups. results . the study showed that in patients with periodontitis a allele (64.4%) was occurred more frequently than g allele (35.6%) at position -1082 of the il-10 gene, and susceptibility to periodontitis increases with presentation of a allele (p conclusion . the study concluded that in chemical-injured subjects -1082 polymorphisms of the il-10 gene were associ-ated with periodontitis. il-18 gene polymorphisms were not associated with destructive periodontal disease, but -819 pol-ymorphisms of the il-10 gene and il-18 gene polymorphisms not associated. exposure to chemical agents may affect predisposition to periodontitis development.

The frequency of interleukin-10 (IL-10) polymorphisms in patients with peptic ulcer and chronic gastritis
ABSTRACT Introduction: Peptic ulcer is a common problem in medicine with serious impacts on the quality of life of patients. It has been shown that Helicobacter pylori infection is related with inflammatory responses of gastric mucosa. However, some patients remain asymptomatic. Sustained colonization and chronic inflammation increase the risk of gastritis and peptic ulcer. The a...
متن کاملIL-6, IL-10 and IL-17 Gene Polymorphisms in Iranian Women with Recurrent Miscarriage
Background: Pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines and polymorphisms of their genes have been described to be involved in the pathogenesis of recurrent miscarriage (RM). Objective: To investigate the association between RM and five polymorphisms of cytokine genes, interleukin 10 (IL-10), (-592 A/C, -819 C/T, -1082 A/G), IL-6 (-174 C/G) and IL-17 (-197 G/A) in Iranian women. Method: Po...
متن کاملInfluence of IL-18 and IL-10 Polymorphisms on Tacrolimus Elimination in Chinese Lung Transplant Patients
Aims. The influence of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) polymorphisms on tacrolimus pharmacokinetics had been described in liver and kidney transplantation. The expression of cytokines varied in different kinds of transplantation. The influence of IL-10 and IL-18 genetic polymorphisms on the pharmacokinetic parameters of tacrolimus remains unclear in lung transplantation. Metho...

Objective. Recent studies of ovarian cancer have suggested a role for inflammation in carcinogenesis. Data from a population-based casecontrol study in Hawaii were examined to assess the relation between polymorphisms in cytokines involved with the inflammatory response, specifically members of the interleukin (IL) family and the incidence of ovarian cancer. Patients and methods. The analysis o...
متن کاملDetection of IL-10 gene polymorphisms in patients with ulcerative colitis in Northern Iran
Background: Ulcerative colitis is a multifactorial disease in which the environmental and genetics factor are being involved together. Interleukins are a group of cytokine which are produced through T cells, monocytes, macrophages, and endothelial cells. Interleukin-10 is an important multitasking cytokine that has a key role in inflammatory responses. The promoter of interlekin-10 is highly po...
متن کاملSerum Levels of IL-10 and IL-22 Cytokines in Patients with Psoriasis
Background: As a chronic inflammatory condition, psoriasis results from an interaction between genetic and immunologic factors in a predisposing environment. In spite of compelling evidence for the role of T cells and cytokines in psoriasis, interleukin (IL)- 10 and IL-22 have not been sufficiently investigated. Objective: To assess the serum levels of IL-10 and IL-22 in patients with psori...
