چکیده
patients and methods seventy patients with chronic partial supraspinatus tears in magnetic resonance imaging were randomized into two groups; prp (n = 35) and pt (n = 35). before the treatment, at the end of the treatment and at the 12th month after the end of the treatment, range of motion (rom), visual analog scale (vas) for pain, disabilities of arm, shoulder and hand questionnaire (dash), neer’s, hawkins’ and drop arm tests and beck depression inventory were investigated. results statistical analysis was made for 62 subjects (prp group, n = 30; pt group, n = 32). there were no differences between the groups according to demographic data. at the 12th month after the end of the treatment, significant improvement in rom was detected in both groups, pain was reduced significantly in both groups and improvement of the dash score was observed in both groups. at all the evaluation steps, increases in rom degrees were significantly higher in the pt group than the prp group. for vas in activity and in rest, after the treatment, improvement was higher in the pt group than the prp group. however, improvement of the dash score of the prp group was significantly better than the pt group. conclusions when we compared with pt, prp seemed to be a well-tolerated application which showed promising results in patients with chronic partial supraspinatus tears. background despite the insufficient evidence, due to potential contribution to the improvement, platelet-rich plasma (prp) is emerging as a promising method. objectives the aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of prp injection in partial supraspinatus tears by comparing with physical therapy (pt).

متن کاملClinical Results of Platelet-Rich Plasma for Partial Thickness Rotator Cuff Tears: A Case Series
Partial thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCTs) are a common pathology among shoulder disorders in people over 50 years.Treatment of PTRCTs remains controversial. Most studies on the treatment of PTRCTs have explained surgical techniquesor outcomes; few studies have centralized on the conservative and new management of PTRCTs, like treatmentwith Platelet-rich plasma (PRP). These case series study...
متن کاملPlatelet-Rich Plasma for Primary Treatment of Partial Ulnar Collateral Ligament Tears: MRI Correlation With Results
Background Jobe revolutionized the treatment of medial ulnar collateral ligament (MUCL) tears with his reconstruction technique. However, not all MUCL injuries require operative management; Rettig showed that 42% of MUCL injuries respond to conservative management. This was improved by Podesta, who showed that augmentation of nonoperative management with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and magnetic ...
متن کاملPlatelet - Rich Plasma Therapy
• Platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP) involves drawing the patient's blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate out the platelets. The layer of platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the patient's pathological body part. The platelets release growth factors to promote healing. It is an office procedure that lasts less than an hour. • The procedure has gained fame because of use on pro...
متن کاملTreatment of chronic wounds with autologous platelet-rich plasma
Abstract Background: One of the emerging new treatments for chronic wounds is the use of autologous platelet-rich plasma. However, there is little experience with this kind of treatment as well as limited proof of its effectiveness. Aim: The aim of this study was to gain further information about the benefits of platelet-richplasma in chronic wounds. Materials and methods: Thirteen patients w...
متن کاملTreatment of chronic elbow tendinosis with buffered platelet-rich plasma.
BACKGROUND Elbow epicondylar tendinosis is a common problem that usually resolves with nonoperative treatments. When these measures fail, however, patients are interested in an alternative to surgical intervention. HYPOTHESIS Treatment of chronic severe elbow tendinosis with buffered platelet-rich plasma will reduce pain and increase function in patients considering surgery for their problem....
