Zurich Mini Cementless Total Hip Arthroplasty in 42 Small Breed Dogs and 8 Cats: Surgical Technique and Outcomes

Abstract This report aims to describe implant characteristics and procedure for implantation, comment on the clinical outcomes in small dogs cats using new Zurich mini cementless total hip system. study involved 8 42 dogs, with 3 6 having bilateral arthroplasties (THA). The mean body weight was 6.5 kg, 9.2 kg. In group of THAs cats, capital physeal fracture reason performing a THA six cases (60%), dysplasia underlying four (30%) luxation one case (10%). Among 48 cause 27 (56%), avascular necrosis femoral head 12 (25%), traumatic 4 (8.5%), 1 adult dog (2%). Seven postoperative complications were encountered, all solved without need explanting prosthesis, except because owner's decision. conclusion, system performed well this study, most an excellent outcome no patient being too available sizes.
