Zinc Absorption through Leaves and Subsequent Translocation to the Grains of Bread Wheat after Foliar Spray

چکیده
Agronomic biofortification could possibly be a promising strategy to overcome zinc (Zn) deficiency in wheat; however, the cultivar’s response foliar applications is enigmatic when it comes relative efficiency of Zn absorption and accumulation. To decipher that response, this study was designed with objectives (i) track amount absorbed through leaves after application, (ii) calculate actually translocated stored grains, (iii) high yielding cultivars terms their translocation. The results reveal 0.90% sprayed leaves, 43% grains. significantly varied for (0.71–1.07%) subsequent translocation (23–66%). Foliar treatment also improved growth attributes such as leaf area, height, spikelet per spike, number grains grain yield, content, protein content. These findings suggest need cautious parent selection devising breeding strategies intended biofortification.

Absorption and translocation of foliar-applied iron.
The absorption of (59)Fe(3+) by the leaves of various plant species was studied. Stomata were found to play a major role in foliar absorption when leaves were totally submerged in treatment solutions, and a correlation was found to exist between stomatal area and absorption. Day treated leaves absorbed much more than did night treated leaves. The use of a surfactant markedly increased absorptio...
متن کاملArbuscular mycorrhizal strategy for zinc mycoremediation and diminished translocation to shoots and grains in wheat
Mycoremediation is an on-site remediation strategy, which employs fungi to degrade or sequester contaminants from the environment. The present work focused on the bioremediation of soils contaminated with zinc by the use of a native mycorrhizal fungi (AM) called Funneliformis geosporum (Nicol. & Gerd.) Walker & Schüßler. Experiments were performed using Triticum aestivum L. cv. Gemmeza-10 at di...
متن کاملStudy of wheat grain protein increasing through foliar application of nitrogen after anthesis
An experiment was conducted to study wheat grain protein increasing through foliar application of Nitrogen afterflowering. The RCBD design was analysed with three replications and four N-treatments as foliar application as(N0=0, N1=4kg.ha-1 Urea, N2=8kg.ha-1 Urea, N3=4kg.ha-1 Ammonium Sulfate). Results showed that seed proteincontent increased significantly by foliar application of Nitrogen. Da...
متن کاملFactors Affecting Absorption and Translocation of Foliar Applied Phosphorus.
Phosphorus is known to be exported from leaves of apple (8, 9, 10), bean (4, 6, 11, 12, 13), chrysanthemum (1, 2), corn (11, 12), tomato (12) and squash (71). The present work with bean plants compares export following application by spray, leaf vein injection (4) and droplet (13) methods. Other factors investigated which affect absorption and subsequent translocation of the spray-applied phosp...
متن کاملResponse of Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics of Aseman Wheat Cultivar to Foliar Application Zinc and Iron Micronutrient in Dryland Conditions
Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Due to the lack of micronutrient elements and the urgent need for biofortification in important and strategic plants in the nutrition of human society such as wheat, it is necessary to evaluate any strategy to optimize the quality and production of this product. This has led researchers to investigate the effect of foliar application of zinc and ir...
