چکیده

The Miller cycle, using an early inlet valve closing, can significantly improve the overall efficiency of a spark ignition engine during partial load operations. shorter intake event minimizes need for throttling air and so reduces pumping losses. This method is known as “dethrottling”. Indeed, use variable lift system makes it possible to combine two different cam profiles in engine, one full operations loads. benefits this strategy, combined with timing (VVT) system, will be explored new 0D model. model take into account strong changes in-cylinder turbulence generated by VVT their effects on combustion. Efforts have been made reduce model's reliance external inputs. Therefore, analytical calculations quantities, such flame radius, favored. cycle lead indicated efficiencies around 44% addition up 1% over wide range

Motion planning for experimental air path control of a variable-valve-timing spark ignition engine

Air path control of a spark ignition engine without an EGR loop, equipped with variable-valve-timing (VVT) actuators, is addressed in this paper. VVT devices are used to produce internal exhaust gas recirculation, providing beneficial effects in terms of fuel consumption and pollutant emissions reduction. However, VVT actuators affect the fresh air charge in the cylinders. This has an impact on...

A comparison of different network based modeling methods for prediction of the torque of a SI engine equipped with variable valve timing

Nowadays, due to increasing the complexity of IC engines, calibration task becomes more severe and the need to use surrogate models for investigating of the engine behavior arises. Accordingly, many black box modeling approaches have been used in this context among which network based models are of the most powerful approaches thanks to their flexible structures. In this paper four network base...

Cylinder Pressure in a Spark - Ignition Engine : A Computational Model

an s-curve to describe the gradual transition between exhaust pressure and intake or inlet pressure. The start of compression, which marks the end of the intake process, does not necessarily occur at the same time as the close of the intake valve (IVC). The intake valve closes after bottom center (BC) while the volume in the cylinder is decreasing. The engine speed determines the point at which...
