Zeolite Composite Nanofiber Mesh for Indoxyl Sulfate Adsorption toward Wearable Blood Purification Devices

A nanofiber mesh was prepared for the adsorption of indoxyl sulfate (IS), a toxin associated with chronic kidney disease. Removing IS is highly demanded efficient blood purification. The objective this study to develop zeolite composite remove efficiently. Eight zeolites different properties were used adsorption, where pore size 7 Å, H+ cations, and silica aluminum ratio 240 mol/mol exhibited highest capacity. This primarily attributed its suitable ratio. incorporated in biocompatible poly (ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) (EVOH) nanofibers, successfully fabricated via electrospinning. an capacity 107 μg/g, while by increased from 208 μg/g powder form 386 when dispersed mesh. also led increase cell viability 86% 96%. These results demonstrated that can be safely effectively applied wearable purification devices.
