Yolk sac tumour in pre-pubertal girl: a case report

The commonest malignant ovarian tumour in the adolescent group is yolk sac tumour. It commonly encountered adolescents and young women. Incidence 1% of all tumours. We reported a case 9-year-old girl who presented with intermittent lower abdominal pain, not settling medical management. Abdominal ultrasonogram showed left adnexal echogenic mass measuring 5×6 cm cystic spaces internal vascularity. MRI abdomen T2/STIR hetero intense indenting uterus posterior bladder wall, multiple bilateral iliac, external common aortic inguinal nodes along minimal ascites were seen. She underwent laparoscopy trucut biopsy which moderate nuclear atypia occasional Schiller-Duval body. Medical oncologist opinion was obtained she advised 4 cycles chemotherapy carboplatin, bleomycin etoposide. Later planned for laparoscopic cytoreductive surgery. Laparoscopy rudimentary uterus, residual mass, normal tubes small pre-pubertal right ovary. Hence, salpingo-oophorectomy, infra colic omentectomy suspicious deposits 1×1 near broad ligament removed. Histopathological report ovary no evidence any malignancy. Peritoneum omentum free Following surgery on follow up AFP till date declining levels almost reached value.
