A clinical prediction rule for the severity of congenital diaphragmatic hernias in newborns.

Some infants have a relatively mild disease process, whereas others have significant pulmonary hypoplasia and hypertension. Identifying high-risk infants postnatally may allow for targeted therapy. METHODS Data were obtained on 2202 infants from the Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Study Group datab...

Congenital Esophageal Anomalies and Diaphragmatic Hernias

● Epidemiology ● Esophageal atresia occurs in about 2.4 of every 10,000 live births, with a slight preponderance in males and children of older or diabetic mothers. Esophageal duplication cysts account for 10 to 15 percent of all foregut duplication cysts and only 5 to 10 percent of all mediastinal cysts. Congenital esophageal stenosis occurs in between 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 live births. Bochda...

Tolazoline in the treatment of congenital diaphragmatic hernias.

SUMMARY Four babies with congenital diaphragmatic hernias each developed a state of transitional circulation.
