The adsorption of oxygen molecules on ytterbium nanofilms various thicknesses has been studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and contact potential difference measurements. It established that the maximum number O 2 can be adsorbed films increases with film thickness. Such behavior is observed at less than 10 monolayers.
