Worldwide Research on Geoparks through Bibliometric Analysis

Since the Digne Convention in 1991, literature related to Geoparks has gained a growing interest on academy’s part, especially achieving preservation of geological sites through sustainable tourism. This article aims provide an analysis academic research Geoparks, based publications Scopus database period 2002–2020. Bibliometric methods and bibliographic display maps were examined using VOSviewer software. The bibliometric process comprises three phases: (i) Search Criteria Source Identification, (ii) software data extraction, (iii) interpretation. results show geoparks full growth as scientific discipline, thanks contribution various authors, institutions, journals, topics that confirm importance this field study. Additionally, lead understanding intellectual structure subject, which keyword co-occurrence shows six main themes, ranging from ‘UNESCO Global Geoparks’ ‘Geo-tourism-Sustainable Tourism’. this, combined with co-citation, broadly exhibits development, showing areas current potential thus offering latest knowledge Geopark worldwide.
