WORLD ANTHROPOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES ON ECONOMIC NATIONALISMS*

Abstract As rising numbers of national governments promote economic nationalist policies and the withdrawal from (or renegotiation of) global political relationships, impossibility disconnecting circulations is illustrated by traveling discourse nationalism itself, although conceptualized implemented quite differently as refracted through specific historical contexts. Drawing on possibilities world anthropologies, authors build connected analyses lived effects contradictions their ethnographic examples Brazil, India, Uganda, US. In comparatively analyzing these contexts, emphasize plural, transhistorical, transnational, gendered, contested nature discourses worldwide, pointing to need for further empirical investigations into diverse understandings deployments projects.
