Power System Reserve from Electric Vehicles
Electric vehicles (EVs) are a promising source of flexibility for the power grid. This paper looks at the ability of EVs to provide power system reserve by studying the potential driving and charging profiles of EVs in an Irish context. The results show that the potential for EVs to provide contingency reserve is strongly dependent on the time of day, day of week and the seasonal effect of clim...

The magnitude of personal travel in the industrialised society has increased tremendously. In Sweden, the average travelled distance per person is currently around 40 km per day (see Figure 10.1). Travelling distances are related to speed. Studies show that the time spent on travel tends to be relatively constant at around one hour a day on average. The historical development of new transport t...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Energy Management System for Electric Vehicles Based on Driving Cycle Identification and Wavelet Transform
Abstract: Since driving cycle greatly affects load power demand, driving cycle identification (DCI) is proposed to predict power demand that can be expected to prepare for the power distribution between battery and supercapacitor. The DCI is developed based on a learning vector quantization (LVQ) neural network method, which is assessed in both training and validation based on the statistical d...
متن کاملConventional, hybrid and electric vehicles for Australian driving conditions. Part 2: Life cycle CO2-e emissions
This paper is the second of a two part study which quantifies the economic and greenhouse performance of conventional, hybrid and fully electric passenger vehicles operating in Australian driving conditions. This second study focuses on the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions. Two vehicle sizes are considered, Class-B and Class-E, which bracket the large majority of passenger vehicles on Austra...
متن کاملMeasuring the Spatial Heterogeneity in Environmental Externalities from Driving: A Comparison of Gasoline and Electric Vehicles∗
Electric vehicles offer the promise of reduced environmental externalities relative to their gasoline counterparts. We determine the spatial heterogeneity in these externalities and evaluate several spatially-differentiated policies to correct them. To do this, we combine a discrete-choice model of new vehicle purchases, an econometric analysis of the electric power industry, and the AP2 air po...
