Within-site variability in earthquake site response

چکیده

SUMMARY The within-site variability in site response is the randomness at a given from different earthquakes and treated as aleatory current seismic hazard/risk analyses. In this study, we investigate single-station linear K-NET KiK-net stations Japan using large number of earthquake recordings. We found that standard deviation horizontal-to-vertical Fourier spectral ratio individual sites, (HVSR) sigma σHV,s, approximates quantified surface-to-borehole ratios (for oscillator frequencies higher than fundamental frequency) or empirical ground-motion models. Based on finding, then utilize HVSR convenient tool to study site-response 697 1169 sites. Our results show certain frequencies, stiff, rough shallow well small local events tend have σHV,s. However, when being averaged over sigma, σHV, increases gradually with decreasing frequency. frequency range 0.25–25 Hz, σHV centred 0.23–0.43 ln scales (a scale factor 1.26–1.54) one less 0.1. quite stable across tectonic regions, present constant, magnitude- distance-dependent

Spatial variability of some soil properties for site specific farming in northern Iran

Evaluating agricultural land management practices requires knowledge of soil spatial variability and understanding their relationships. Spatial distributions for fourteen soil physical and chemical properties were examined in a wheat field in Sorkhankalateh district, in Golestan province, Iran. 101 soil samples at the distances of 5m, 10m and 20m as nested grid were collected at the depth of 0-...

Estimating site-specific strong earthquake motions

The Campus Earthquake Program (CEP) of the University of California (UC) started in March 1996, and involved a partnership among seven campuses of the UC—Berkeley, Davis, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz—and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The aim of the CEP was to provide University campuses with site-specific assessments of their earthquake stron...

Temporal Changes of Site Response During the Mw9.0 Tohoku Earthquake in Japan

The recent Mw9.0 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake and its aftershocks generated widespread strong shakings as large as ~3000 Gal along the east coast of Japan. Here we systematically analyze temporal changes of material properties and nonlinear site response in the shallow crust associated with the Tohoku main shock, using seismic data recorded by the Japanese Strong Motion Network KI...

Long-term change of site response after the Mw 9.0 Tohoku earthquake in Japan

The recent Mw 9.0 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake is the largest recorded earthquake in Japan’s history. The Tohoku main shock and its aftershocks generated widespread strong shakings as large as ∼3000 Gal along the east coast of Japan. Wu and Peng (2011) found clear drop of resonant frequency of up to 70% during the Tohoku main shock at 6 sites and correlation of resonance (peak) fr...

Comparison of Single- site and Multi-site Based Calibrations of SWAT in Taleghan Watershed, Iran

Calibration of model is critical for hydrologic modeling of large watersheds in a mountain watershed. In this study Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) used to comparison a single-site calibration procedure that employed streamflow measurement at outlet of watershed to a multi-site calibration method that used streamflow measurements at three stations (Galinak, Joestan and Dehdar). Results sh...
