Window function for chirped pulse spectroscopy with enhanced signal-to-noise ratio and lineshape correction

چکیده

In chirped pulse experiments, magnitude Fourier transform is used to generate frequency domain spectra. The application of window function as a tool for lineshape correction and signal-to-noise ratio (SnR) enhancement rarely discussed in spectroscopy, with the only exception using Kaiser-Bessel trivial rectangular window. We present specific function, called "Voigt-1D" window, designed spectroscopy. corrects Fourier-transform spectra Voigt lineshape, offers wide tunability control SnR final spectral lines. derived mathematical properties evaluated performance comparison on experimental simulated data sets. Our result shows that, compared un-windowed spectra, Voigt-1D able produce 100 % average.

Signal-to-noise ratio in chirped laser dispersion spectroscopy.

Quantitative studies and experimental validation of noise sources occurring in chirped laser dispersion spectroscopy (CLaDS) are reported. Their impact on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) achievable with the CLaDS sensing method is analyzed through a noise model supported by experimental results. In particular the model shows that the SNR is optimal for a given value of the laser chirp rate. The...

Signal-to-Noise Ratio Estimation

Of the many measures that characterize the performance of a communication receiver, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is perhaps the most fundamental in that many of the other measures directly depend on its knowledge for their evaluation. In the design of receivers for autonomous operation, it is desirable that the estimation of SNR take place with as little known information as possible regarding o...

Manipulating Impulsive Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy with a Chirped Probe Pulse.

Photophysical and photochemical processes are often dominated by molecular vibrations in various electronic states. Dissecting the corresponding, often overlapping, spectroscopic signals from different electronic states is a challenge hampering their interpretation. Here we address impulsive stimulated Raman spectroscopy (ISRS), a powerful technique able to coherently stimulate and record Raman...

Chirped-pulse terahertz spectroscopy for broadband trace gas sensing.

We report the first demonstration of a broadband trace gas sensor based on chirp-pulse terahertz spectroscopy. The advent of newly developed solid state sources and sensitive heterodyne detectors for the terahertz frequency range have made it possible to generate and detect precise arbitrary waveforms at THz frequencies with ultra-low phase noise. In order to maximize sensitivity, the sample ga...

On the Definition of Signal-To-Noise Ratio and Contrast-To-Noise Ratio for fMRI Data

Signal-to-noise ratio, the ratio between signal and noise, is a quantity that has been well established for MRI data but is still subject of ongoing debate and confusion when it comes to fMRI data. fMRI data are characterised by small activation fluctuations in a background of noise. Depending on how the signal of interest and the noise are identified, signal-to-noise ratio for fMRI data is rep...
