Filament winding reinforcement is often applied to fulfill high-pressure resistance and lightweight for gas cylinder productions. This article analyzes the pattern corresponding characteristics filament cylinders based on resulting thickness strength such that can be made as light possible. In order prevent sliding between material surface during process, a range of angles do not exceed maximum static friction at every instant adopted. The geometric structure formed by complete round using different calculated find consumes least composite filament. also determined before production reduce cost time customized products. By sequential contact points motion planning carried out four-axis machine.

Genetic Algorithm Optimization of a Filament Winding Process

This paper describes a research effort to improve the efficiency of a filament winding process by combining the simulation capabilities of the WITNESS modeling program with the search capabilities of a genetic algorithm. Results show that the genetic algorithm is able to reduce the cost of producing filament wound mandrels used in the defense industry.
