William Morris Davis: Father of Geomorphology or Father of Geology’s Unrecognized Paradigm Problem

An often unrecognized problem is the geology and glacial history paradigm’s inability to explain topographic map drainage system erosional landform evidence, which means research studies rarely address that type of evidence. The originated in late 19th century with William Morris Davis who sometimes called father geomorphology was one first geologists interpret what were newly available maps. 1889 paper describes selected evidence observed on an advance copy 1890 Doylestown (Pennsylvania) 1892 Ward written after discussions additional seen same map. Both papers fail mention majority map’s features including most barbed tributaries, asymmetric divides, through (dry) valleys crossing major divides. Had used all he should have recognized shows headward erosion east-oriented Neshaminy Creek valley captured southwest-oriented streams south-oriented Delaware River its tributary Tohickon had beheaded.
