Will temperature and rainfall changes prevent yield progress in Europe?

چکیده
Concerns about the effects of global warming on crop yields have been raised due to stagnating yield progress in recent years. However, an understanding changes temperature and rainfall throughout cycle historical is lacking Europe (EU). In this study, positive wheat, barley, rice, maize EU (1961–2019) was significant, with rates 0.05, 0.04, 0.07 Tha?1year?1, for four crops respectively. Much has sustained by Eastern European countries (EE), which had highest rates. On average, case wheat a increase 1°C winter resulted increasing +0.33 Tha?1 EE. This potentially decreasing cold damage improved photosynthesis vegetative growth, supporting progress. Recent (2001–2019) were all regions except Western (WE), barley Southern (SE) Northern (NE). Stagnated rice WE not explained or using direct correlations observed data. May July temperatures associated NE (?0.30 Tha?1°C?1), SE (?0.14 Tha?1°C?1) (?0.42 ?0.39 Tha?1°C?1). With becoming less than optimal photosynthesis, reducing grain filling duration drought episodes, stagnated SE. consistent increases water evaporative demand expected future, interplay among genetic adaptation, increased duration, tolerance, sowing dates, smart irrigation sustainable practices may require thorough regional testing maximise Europe.

Rainfall erosivity in Europe.
Rainfall is one the main drivers of soil erosion. The erosive force of rainfall is expressed as rainfall erosivity. Rainfall erosivity considers the rainfall amount and intensity, and is most commonly expressed as the R-factor in the USLE model and its revised version, RUSLE. At national and continental levels, the scarce availability of data obliges soil erosion modellers to estimate this fact...
متن کاملPesticides in rainfall in Europe.
Papers and published reports investigating the presence of pesticides in rainfall in Europe were reviewed. Approximately half of the compounds that were analysed for were detected. For those detected, most concentrations were below about 100 ng/l, but larger concentrations, up to a few thousand nanograms per litre, were detected occasionally at most monitoring sites. The most frequently detecte...
متن کاملAdjustment of Temperature and Rainfall Records for Site Changes
Methods are presented for estimating the effect of known site changes on temperature and rainfall measurements. Parallel cumulative sums of seasonally adjusted series from neighbouring stations are a useful exploratory tool for recognizing site-change effects at a station that has a number of near neighbours. For temperature data, a site-change effect can be estimated by a difference between th...
متن کاملMapping monthly rainfall erosivity in Europe
Rainfall erosivity as a dynamic factor of soil loss by water erosion is modelled intra-annually for the first time at European scale. The development of Rainfall Erosivity Database at European Scale (REDES) and its 2015 update with the extension to monthly component allowed to develop monthly and seasonal R-factor maps and assess rainfall erosivity both spatially and temporally. During winter m...
متن کاملNitrogen yield and nitrogen use of chickpea compared to pea, barley and oat in Central Europe
European agriculture suffers from a substantial deficit of protein sources forlivestock and the projected changes in agro-climatic conditions in Central Europeinclude a higher risk of drought. To address these challenges, the drought resistantlegume crop chickpea was compared with pea, barley and oat regarding its nitrogen(N) yield, protein yield and N use and utilization efficiency under Centr...
