Wide Speed Range Operation Strategy of Indirect Matrix Converter–Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drive

In order to expand the speed range for an indirect matrix converter–surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor drive (IMC-SPMSM), a wide operation control strategy based on flux-weakening and over-modulation method is proposed in this paper. stage of inverter, IMC designed, which increases fundamental voltage transmission ratio (VTR) 1. addition, considering variation limit boundary with speed, implemented error feedback method, maximizes utilization rate by setting endpoint output vector during operation. rectifier, automatically switched or off according requirements modulation depth controller. Finally, experimental results show that maximum IMC-SPMSM nearly 35% compared torque per ampere (MTPA) method. Besides, enlarged margin rectifier effectively shortens time.
