Wide-Band and Wide-Angle Scanning Phased Array Antenna for Mobile Communication System

A wide-band phased array antenna with wide-angle scanning capability for mobile communication system is proposed in this article. An air cavity properly embedded into the substrate under each element. This method very simple and can efficiently enhance performance by improving impedance matching (WAIM) realizing beam-width of elements array. Besides, operating bandwidth also extended approach. The analyzed verified both linear antennas (on large ground planes detail) planar Two $1\times 8$ arrays one notation="LaTeX">$8\times are demonstrated, which achieve beam around ±60° a realized gain reduction 3.5 dB wide (37.4%). Furthermore, E-plane scan over ±70° less than 3 dB. prototypes capacity two fabricated characterized, yielding good within overall operational bandwidth. measured results align well simulated. wideband coverage promising candidate 5G communications.
