چکیده
Abstract Objective To compare volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) with simultaneous tumor bed boost (dpSIB‐VMAT) to the whole breast and regional nodal irradiation (RNI) against standard three‐dimensional conformal radiotherapy plus RNI sequential (3D‐CRT‐seqB). Methods Thirty patients who underwent cancer surgery (BCS) axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) were enrolled. Two plans generated for each case: (1) dpSIB‐VMAT, (2) 3D‐CRT‐seqB plans. Planning target volume (PTV)‐Breast PTV‐Nodes prescribed at a dose of 50 Gy in 25 fractions both PTV‐Boost was 60 simultaneously dpSIB‐VMAT plans, whereas it planned sequentially 10 5 fractions. Dosimetric parameters compared between two Results Both achieved coverage. D mean heart lower left‐sided cases (7.17 ± 0.66 vs. 10.12 2.91 Gy; t = 4.02; p 0.001). Ipsilateral lung (15.87 1.40 19.82 3.20 6.30; <0.001) significantly but doses contralateral (4.30 1.76 1.48 0.76 ‐7.84; <0.001), (3.86 1.21 0.96 0.25 ‐13.13; esophagus (13.11 2.63 10.32 3.56 ‐6.65; relatively higher dpSIB‐VMAT. Conclusion Dosimetrically, reduced ipsilateral (in left not right cases) adequate

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to identify a more suitable boost plan for simultaneously integrated boost scheme in patients with breast cancer by comparing among 3 types of whole-breast irradiation plus tumor bed boost plans. METHODS Twenty patients who received radiotherapy following breast-conserving surgery for early breast cancer were enrolled in this study. We performed 1 type of...
متن کاملUltrasound-guided boost irradiation of tumor cavity after lumpectomy in breast cancer
Background: After breast conserving surgery, most recurrences occur around the primary tumor site. This justifies the use of boost radiotherapy to the primary site of tumor. Surgical scar is not always a good surrogate for the location of the lumpectomy cavity. The aim of this study was to evaluate ultrasonic guidance for detection of the lumpectomy cavity after breast conserving surgery ...

OBJECTIVES To compare the target volume coverage and doses to organs at risks (OARs) using three techniques that simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) in whole-breast irradiation (WBI) after breast-conserving surgery, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), IMRT plus an electron boost (IMRT-EB), and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT). METHODS A total of 10 patients with ear...

PURPOSE The goal of this study was to evaluate the use of 3D ultrasound (3DUS) breast IGRT for electron and photon lumpectomy site boost treatments. MATERIALS AND METHODS 20 patients with a prescribed photon or electron boost were enrolled in this study. 3DUS images were acquired both at time of simulation, to form a coregistered CT/3DUS dataset, and at the time of daily treatment delivery. I...
