چکیده
Abstract The notion of conically smooth structure on a stratified space was introduced by Ayala, Francis and Tanaka. This is very well behaved analogue differential in the context topological spaces, satisfying good properties such as existence resolutions singularities handlebody decompositions. In this paper we prove Tanaka’s conjecture that any Whitney admits canonical structure. We thus establish connection between theory spaces classical examples from topology.

A Geometric Proof of the Existence of Whitney Stratifications
A stratification of a set, e.g. an analytic variety, is, roughly, a partition of it into manifolds so that these manifolds fit together “regularly”. Stratification theory was originated by Thom and Whitney for algebraic and analytic sets. It was one of the key ingredients in Mather’s proof of the topological stability theorem [Ma] (see [GM] and [PW] for the history and further applications of s...
متن کاملOn Conically Ordered Convex Programs
In this paper we study a special class of convex optimization problems called conically ordered convex programs (COCP), where the feasible region is given as the level set of a vector-valued nonlinear mapping, expressed as a nonnegative combination of convex functions. The nonnegativity of the vectors is defined using a pre-described conic ordering. The new model extends the ordinary convex pro...
متن کاملStratifications of cellular patterns
Geometrically, foams or covalent graphs can be decomposed into successive layers or strata. Disorder of the underlying structure imposes a characteristic roughening of the layers. Our main results are hysteresis and convergence in the layer sequences. 1) If the direction of construction is reversed, the layers are different in the up and down sequences (irreversibility); nevertheless, under sui...
متن کاملStratifications in Valued Fields
In these notes, I present a new, strong notion of stratifications which describe singularities of sets in Henselian valued fields. In the first part, I give the definition, some examples, and I state the main result about their existence; in the second part, I explain how such a stratification in a valued field induces a classical Whitney stratification in R.
متن کاملExamples of exotic stratifications
We produce examples of manifold stratified pairs in which the lower strata do not have neighborhoods that are mapping cylinders of fiber bundles, or even block bundles. Moreover, the examples do not improve in this regard under stabilization by products with tori. The examples are locally conelike and the lower strata do have neighborhoods which are mapping cylinders of manifold approximate fib...
