Which tools for monitoring emerging arboviruses within their mammalian hosts and arthropod vectors ?

چکیده
Arboviruses are viruses transmitted to humans and/or animals by hematophagous arthropods. They have a significant economic and public health impact. Given the number of arboviruses already identified their great genetic variability, it is essential highly flexible tools for monitoring. Arbovirus circulation within animal populations can be demonstrated direct indirect screening specific virus vertebrate hosts arthropod vectors. Viruses adaptive capacities that enable them emerge into new geographic areas cross species barriers. Over decades, arbovirus monitoring has considerably evolved due innovations in detection technologies. The objectives this review list assess (i) current or arboviruses, (ii) generation best meet expectations terms optimal (iii) potentials improved

Rickettsial pathogens and their arthropod vectors.
Rickettsial diseases, important causes of illness and death worldwide, exist primarily in endemic and enzootic foci that occasionally give rise to sporadic or seasonal outbreaks. Rickettsial pathogens are highly specialized for obligate intracellular survival in both the vertebrate host and the invertebrate vector. While studies often focus primarily on the vertebrate host, the arthropod vector...
متن کاملBizarre interactions and endgames: entomopathogenic fungi and their arthropod hosts.
Invertebrate pathogens and their hosts are taxonomically diverse. Despite this, there is one unifying concept relevant to all such parasitic associations: Both pathogen and host adapt to maximize their own reproductive output and ultimate fitness. The strategies adopted by pathogens and hosts to achieve this goal are almost as diverse as the organisms themselves, but studies examining such rela...
متن کاملEmerging arboviruses: Why today?
The recent global (re)emergence of arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses), such as chikungunya and Zika virus, was widely reported in the media as though it was a new phenomenon. This is not the case. Arboviruses and other human microbial pathogens have been (re)emerging for centuries. The major difference today is that arbovirus emergence and dispersion are more rapid and geographically extensi...
متن کاملRisk Assessment for Arthropod Vectors
THE INTENT OF this section is to provide guidance and to establish a framework for selecting the appropriate arthropod containment level (facilities, equipment, and practices) that reduce risks of release and exposure of laboratory workers and the public to a vector and associated agents. “Risk” implies the probability that harm, injury, or disease will occur among laboratorians or the general ...
متن کاملBehaviour of filariae: morphological and anatomical signatures of their life style within the arthropod and vertebrate hosts
This paper attempts to pinpoint the most original morphological anatomical features of the biology of filariae per se and those which are or could be important for triggering regulatory processes in the arthropod vector and uncontrolled pathogenic processes in the vertebrate hosts. The following stages are considered: the motile egg or newly-hatched larva, the microfilaria, in the lymphatic or ...
