چکیده
Purpose: Research shows the benefits of whey isolate protein powder and casein supplementation in regard to body composition resting metabolic rate; however, minimal research exists comparing effectiveness supplementation. Methods: Eighteen (18) physically trained, healthy individuals (23±3.1 yrs.; 171.7cm; 12 males; 6 females) completed a randomized two condition [Combat 100% Isolate (Whey) versus Combat (Casein)] by time point [Pre-, Post-] intervention. The intervention consisted subjects supplementing on either or conjunction with resistance training over an 8-week period. Pre post testing included % fat rate. Results: A 2x2, repeated-measures analysis variance (ANOVA) demonstrated non-significant (p ≥ 0.05) effects changes rate following Conclusions: data concludes no differences active,

Probiotic supplementation for respiratory and gastrointestinal illness symptoms in healthy physically active individuals.
BACKGROUND & AIMS To examine the effect of supplementation with probiotics on respiratory and gastrointestinal illness in healthy active men and women. METHODS A randomised double-blind placebo-controlled trial was conducted. Four hundred and sixty five participants (241 males; age 35 ± 12 y (mean ± SD) and 224 females; age 36 ± 12 y) were assigned to one of three groups: Group 1 - Bifidobact...
متن کاملHormonal response to L-arginine supplementation in physically active individuals
BACKGROUND Nutritional supplements based on the amino acid L-arginine have been hypothesized to improve exercise performance by increasing levels of insulin and growth hormone (GH). Changes of these parameters in response to L-arginine supplementation may clarify the mechanisms underlying its putative physiological effects on physical performance. OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to evaluat...
متن کاملSingle leg squat performance in physically and non-physically active individuals: a cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND Single-leg squat (SLS) is a functional test visually rated by clinicians for assessing lower limb function as a preventive injury strategy. SLS clinical rating is a qualitative evaluation and it does not count objective outcomes as kinematics data and surface electromyography (sEMG) assessment. Based on the SLS rating, the aims of this study were (i) to determine the clinical rating ...
متن کاملComparing Levels of Depression in Healthy Active and Inactive Elders versus Those with Knee Osteoarthritis Disease
Knee osteoarthritis can have negative effects on the physical and mental conditions, social and family relations, general health and positive feelings of elders. For example, severe limitation of motion and increased depression, which are results of this disease, can have negative impacts on elders. The purpose of this study was to compare the levels of depression in healthy active and inactive...
متن کاملButyrylated starch increases colonic butyrate concentration but has limited effects on immunity in healthy physically active individuals.
BACKGROUND Butyrate delivery to the large bowel may positively modulate commensal microbiota and enhance immunity. OBJECTIVE To determine the effects of increasing large bowel butyrate concentration through ingestion of butyrylated high amylose maize starch (HAMSB) on faecal biochemistry and microbiota, and markers of immunity in healthy active individuals. DESIGN Male and female volunteers...
