Where are Milky Way’s hadronic PeVatrons?

Observations of the Milky Way at TeV--PeV energies reveal a bright diffuse flux hadronic cosmic rays and also point sources gamma rays. If gamma-ray are cosmic-ray accelerators, then they must be neutrino sources. However, no have been detected. Where they? We introduce new population-based approach to probe PeVatrons, demanding consistency between point-source PeV-range data on rays, neutrinos. For two extreme scenarios allowed: (1) accelerators same objects, so that exist improved telescopes can detect them, versus (2) distinct, there detectable The latter case is possible if sufficiently thin column densities. quantify present constraints future prospects, showing how nature PeVatrons.
