What works better for preference elicitation among older people? Cognitive burden of discrete choice experiment and case 2 best-worst scaling in an online setting

چکیده
To appropriately weight dimensions of quality life instruments for health economic evaluations, population and patient preferences need to be elicited. Two commonly used elicitation methods this purpose are discrete choice experiments (DCE) case 2 best-worst scaling (BWS). These differ in terms their cognitive burden, which is especially relevant when eliciting among older people. Using a randomised experiment with respondents from an online panel, paper examines the burden associated colour-coded level overlapped DCE, BWS, ‘standard’ BWS tasks complex state valuation setting. Our sample included 469 individuals aged 65 above. Based on both revealed stated we found that DCE were less cognitively burdensome than BWS. Colour coding cannot recommended as its effect was clear colour lead undesired heuristics. results have implications future valuations at least serve example assessing different types experiments.

What are colorectal cancer survivors’ preferences for dietary advice? A best-worst discrete choice experiment
PURPOSE Studies on healthy lifestyle interventions in survivors of colorectal cancer have been disappointing, demonstrating only modest changes. This study aims to quantify people's preferences for different aspects of dietary intervention. METHOD A best-worst discrete choice experiment was designed and incorporated into a questionnaire including participants' characteristics and a self-asses...
متن کاملBest-worst scaling vs. discrete choice experiments: an empirical comparison using social care data.
This paper presents empirical findings from the comparison between two principal preference elicitation techniques: discrete choice experiments and profile-based best-worst scaling. Best-worst scaling involves less cognitive burden for respondents and provides more information than traditional "pick-one" tasks asked in discrete choice experiments. However, there is lack of empirical evidence on...
متن کاملTesting Cessation Messages for Cigarette Package Inserts: Findings from a Best/Worst Discrete Choice Experiment
This study assessed smokers' responses to different smoking cessation topics and imagery for cigarette package inserts. Adult smokers from Canada (n = 1000) participated in three discrete choice experiments (DCEs): DCE 1 assessed five cessation benefit topics and five imagery types; DCE 2 assessed five messages with tips to improve cessation success and five imagery types; DCE 3 assessed four r...
متن کاملdevelopment and implementation of an optimized control strategy for induction machine in an electric vehicle
in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...

BACKGROUND The preferences of parents and children with asthma influence their ability to manage a child's asthma and achieve good control. Potential differences between parents and adolescents with respect to specific parameters of asthma control are not considered in clinical asthma guidelines. The objective was to measure and compare the preferences of parents and adolescents with asthma wit...
