چکیده

Aim: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the wettability two different artificial saliva substitutes on injection moulded heat-polymerized acrylic resin and CAD-CAM compare these properties with natural distilled water.Materials method: Forty heat polymerized (injection moulded) specimens forty were fabricated each specimen measuring 10x10x2mm. Four groups liquids namely water, Wet mouth™, Mouth Kote™ human used. A contact angle goniometer used measure angles. Two readings obtained right side left test specimen. observations recorded a mean calculated. same procedure repeated for all (heat cure CAD-CAM) four liquids. Results: Contact measurements significantly higher mouth™ solution group compared (p-value<0.05 both). had lower (62.63 ± 4.59) than (77.46 9.16) CAD/CAM denture base resin. Kote also (70.80 4.79) (97.77 7.79) resin. Conclusion: kote better wet mouth both Both

The influence of polishing techniques on pre-polymerized CAD\CAM acrylic resin denture bases

Background Lately, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) has broadly been successfully employed in dentistry. The CAD/CAM systems have recently become commercially available for fabrication of complete dentures, and are considered as an alternative technique to conventionally processed acrylic resin bases. However, they have not yet been fully investigated. Objectiv...

Comparison of Water Sorption of Two Injection Acrylic Resins with a Conventional Pressure-Packed Acrylic Resin

Background and Aim: Water sorption is one of the most important properties that affects the quality of a prosthesis, and subsequently, the quality of treatment, and pa-tient’s quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine and compare the water sorption of two types of poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) using the injection-molding systems with a traditional acrylic resin base material. M...

Allergy to auto-polymerized acrylic resin in an orthodontic patient.

This article reports on a 60-year-old woman who had an allergic reaction to methylmethacrylate self-curing acrylic resin during orthodontic treatment. A localized hypersensitive reaction appeared on the palate after an orthodontic retainer was placed. Samples of the acrylic were removed and analyzed with gas chromatography to evaluate the residual monomer level. The residual monomer content was...

Effect of denture cleaning on abrasion resistance and surface topography of polymerized CAD CAM acrylic resin denture base

BACKGROUND The application of computer-aided design computer-aided manufacturing (CAD CAM) technology in the fabrication of complete dentures, offers numerous advantages as it provides optimum fit and eliminates polymerization shrinkage of the acrylic base. Additionally, the porosity and surface roughness of CAD CAM resins is less compared to conventionally processed resins which leads to a dec...

The effect of two artificial salivas on the adhesion of Candida albicans to heat-polymerized acrylic resin

PURPOSE Xerostomia can diminish the quality of life, leads to changes in normal chemical composition of saliva and oral microbiata, and increases the risk for opportunistic infections, such as Candida albicans. Various artificial salivas have been considered for patients with xerostomia. However, the knowledge on the antifungal and antiadhesive activity of artificial saliva substitutes is limit...
