Wet storage effects on fly ash properties relevant to its use in air-entrained concrete

چکیده

With the retirement of coal-fired power stations, wet-stored stockpile fly ash is increasingly receiving attention for use in concrete. An important consideration dry this application its impact on air entrainment, which can be affected by unburnt carbon present, influencing bubble stability and air-entraining admixture (AEA) dose requirements. Preliminary tests suggest wet storage influence process present study examined laboratory-moistened ashes. The research indicated that chemical processes lead to product formation particle surfaces increases loss-on-ignition material. Agglomeration also occurred with storage, developing time. While median size specific surface area (by nitrogen (N 2 ) adsorption) increased, both foam index Acid Blue 80 adsorption were less storage. Mortar mainly gave increased content at fixed AEA material held under these conditions. data accessibility particles influenced behaviour breakdown agglomerates grinding). Some influences chemistry found. A pilot-scale processing trial general agreement effects observed laboratory.

Combine Use of Fly Ash and Rice Husk Ash in Concrete to Improve its Properties (RESEARCH NOTE)

This research paper describes the study of combined effect of Fly Ash (FA) and Rice Husk Ash (RHA) on properties of concrete as partial replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). These by-products are having high pozzolanic reactivity. In this research, the composition of mix was used with 10% RHA along with 10, 20 and 30% FA as partial replacement of cement. In this study, the compressive ...

Effect of Fly ASH on Properties of Concrete

This paper presents an Effect of Fly Ash on Properties of Concrete. In the present study. Use of fly ash in concrete imparts several environmental benefits and thus it is ecofriendly. It saves the cement requirement for the same strength thus saving of raw materials such as limestone, coal etc required for manufacture of cement. Fly ash is pozzolanic material & it improving the properties of co...

Freeze-Thaw Durability of Air-Entrained Concrete

One of the most damaging actions affecting concrete is the abrupt temperature change (freeze-thaw cycles). The types of deterioration of concrete structures by cyclic freeze-thaw can be largely classified into surface scaling (characterized by the weight loss) and internal crack growth (characterized by the loss of dynamic modulus of elasticity). The present study explored the durability of con...

Saturation of Air Entrained Voids and Its Implication on the Transport of Ionic Species in Concrete

Air entrainment is commonly used to improve the durability of concrete materials exposed to freezing and thawing. While the influence of air voids on freeze/thaw damage and salt scaling is frequently studied, the influence of entrained air voids on ionic transport has been studied less frequently. Since ionic transport in concrete materials relies on pore fluid as the medium of conduction, only...
