چکیده

During the autumn of 2017, a study was conducted to assess zooplankton community composition in three sections (two latitudinal, going from Japan equator, and one longitudinal on equator) Western Pacific Ocean. A total 384 species adults 21 groups larvae were identified, with copepods being predominant taxon. The common dominant across Acrocalanus gibber, Canthocalanus pauper, Oithona similis, Paracalanus aculeatus, Oncaea venusta. Zooplankton abundance highest equator section, mean 258.94 ± 52.57 ind./m3. Comparatively, low recovered Subtropical Countercurrent (STCC) region, while holding stations located eastern equatorial North Equatorial (NECC) regions. Pearson’s correlation, canonical correspondence analysis, other methods used analyze relationship between environmental factors zooplankton. We found that Shannon–Wiener diversity index Pielou’s uniformity significantly correlated (p < 0.05) concentrations nitrite chlorophyll a. distribution also limited by nutrients, a, dissolved oxygen. In addition, we reveal differences latitudinal seas. not only temperature nutrient salinity, but ocean currents movement water masses, influence communities Pacific.

Spatial characteristics of AVHRR-NDVI along latitudinal transects in northern Alaska

Two-weekly AVHRR images were used to examine spatial patterns of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and their relationships with environmental variables for moist acidic tundra (MAT) and moist non-acidic tundra (MNT) along two latitudinal transects in northern Alaska. The NDVI database was derived from a 5-yr time series (1995-1999) of two-weekly AVHRR composites for Alaska. A di...

Ocean-Scale Patterns in Community Respiration Rates along Continuous Transects across the Pacific Ocean

Community respiration (CR) of organic material to carbon dioxide plays a fundamental role in ecosystems and ocean biogeochemical cycles, as it dictates the amount of production available to higher trophic levels and for export to the deep ocean. Yet how CR varies across large oceanographic gradients is not well-known: CR is measured infrequently and cannot be easily sensed from space. We used c...

Changes in autumn senescence in northern hemisphere deciduous trees: a meta-analysis of autumn phenology studies.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Many individual studies have shown that the timing of leaf senescence in boreal and temperate deciduous forests in the northern hemisphere is influenced by rising temperatures, but there is limited consensus on the magnitude, direction and spatial extent of this relationship. METHODS A meta-analysis was conducted of published studies from the peer-reviewed literature that ...

Distribution of Virus-Infected Bacteria in the Western Equatorial Pacific

Viruses are generally considered an important agent of bacterial loss in diverse marine environments. However, the impact of viruses on bacteria is unknown in the western equatorial Pacific, where surface waters are warm and phytoplankton biomass is low (i.e., oligotrophic). Further, little is known about their importance in the mesopelagial, where bacteria and heterotrophic nanoflagellates are...

Phytoplankton abundances and community structure in the equatorial Pacific

In both the warm pool region and the high-nutrient low-chlorophyll (HNLC) region of the equatorial Pacific, the phytoplankton community is dominated by high concentrations of picophytoplankton regardless of whether El Ni * no, La Ni * na or normal conditions prevail. Flow cytometry measurements indicate that the picoplankton community consists of two species of prokaryotes, Prochlorococcus and ...
