Weighted proximity search

چکیده
Abstract Proximity search is an iterative method to solve complex mathematical programming problems. At each iteration, the objective function of problem at hand replaced by Hamming distance a given solution, and cutoff constraint added impose that any new obtained solution improves value. A mixed integer solver used find feasible this modified problem, yielding improved original problem. This paper introduces concept weighted allows design called proximity search. In function, low weights are associated with variables whose value in current promising change order while high assigned expected remain unchanged. The help distinguish between alternative solutions neighborhood provide guidance when trying locate solution. Several strategies determine presented, including both static dynamic strategies. proposed compared classic on instances from three optimization problems: p -median set covering stochastic lot-sizing results show suitable choice obtain better solutions, for 75 $$\%$$ % cases, than ones using 96 cases running commercial time limit.

Proximity Search in Databases
An information retrieval (IR) engine can rank documents based on textual proximity of keywords within each document. In this paper we apply this notion to search across an entire database for objects that are \near" other relevant objects. Proximity search enables simple \focusing" queries based on general relationships among objects, helpful for interactive query sessions. We view the database...
متن کاملEfficient Text Proximity Search
In addition to purely occurrence-based relevance models, term proximity has been frequently used to enhance retrieval quality of keyword-oriented retrieval systems. While there have been approaches on effective scoring functions that incorporate proximity, there has not been much work on algorithms or access methods for their efficient evaluation. This paper presents an efficient evaluation fra...
متن کاملOn K-word Proximity Search
When we search from a huge amount of documents, we often specify several keywords to narrow the result of the search. Though the searched documents contain all keywords, positions of the keywords are usually not considered. As the result, the search result contains some meaningless documents. In this paper, we propose two algorithms for nding documents in which all given keywords appear in neig...
متن کاملSpace Exploration via Proximity Search
We investigate what computational tasks can be performed on a point set in R, if we are only given black-box access to it via nearest-neighbor search. This is a reasonable assumption if the underlying point set is either provided implicitly, or it is stored in a data structure that can answer such queries. In particular, we show the following: (A) One can compute an approximate bi-criteria k-ce...
متن کاملProximity graphs inside large weighted graphs
Given a large weighted graph G = (V, E) and a subset U of V , we define several graphs with vertex set U in which two vertices are adjacent if they satisfy some prescribed proximity rule. These rules use the shortest path distance in G and generalize the proximity rules that generate some of the most common proximity graphs in Euclidean spaces. We prove basic properties of the defined graphs an...
