Weed Suppression, Biomass and Nitrogen Accumulation in Mixed-Species and Single-Species Cover Crops in a Tropical Sugarcane Fallow

چکیده
While mixed-species cover crops are gaining worldwide popularity, their utility in the ‘plough-out’ period tropical sugar cane systems has not been investigated. Field trials investigating weed suppression (one season only), biomass production and nitrogen accumulation of single-species were conducted over two seasons on a commercial sugarcane farm Australian tropics. Mixed-species showed strong suppression, among top treatments for each year, but did yield highest either season. Sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea cv. Global sunn) produced most drier-than-average 2016–2017 (>10 t dry matter ha−1), while soybean (Glycine max Leichardt) (5.3 ha−1) wetter-than-average 2018–2019 season, highlighting influence seasonal conditions species’ production. The inclusion multiple species short-term crop tropics where extreme weather events can occur thus be seen as risk mitigation strategy given failure any

Survey the Effect of Cover Crops in Reduced Sunflower Weed Biomass
In order to evaluate the effects of cover crops on reduced weed biomass in hybrid sunflower an experiment was carried in the research stations, Natural Resources Medicinal Plants (Samian_Ardabile) with 3 replicates in 1390-1391. The first factor was considered three type of cover crops, winter rye, spring barley, winter wheat with 2 control treatment, second factor was mulch management at two ...

متن کاملAllelopathic Weed Suppression Through the Use of Cover Crops
There has long been observed an inhibitive response by plant species to certain neighboring plants. The Greek philosopher and botanist, Theophrastus, noted this effect from cabbage as early as 300 BC (Willis 1985). Since that time, others have documented similar plant interactions. In 1937, Austrian botanist, Hans Molisch, described this phenomenon as allelopathy, which he determined to be the ...
