Weak Damping of Propagating MHD Kink Waves in the Quiescent Corona

چکیده
Propagating transverse waves are thought to be a key transporter of Poynting flux throughout the Sun's atmosphere. Recent studies have shown that these motions, interpreted as magnetohydrodynamic kink mode, prevalent corona. The associated energy estimates suggest carry enough meet demands coronal radiative losses in quiescent Sun. However, it is still unclear how deposit their into plasma. We present results from large-scale study propagating corona using data Coronal Multi-channel Polarimeter (CoMP). analysis reveals appear weakly damped, which would imply low rates transfer motions smaller-scales via either uni-turbulence or resonant absorption. This raises questions about observed modes Moreover, observations, combined with Monte Carlo simulations, lead us infer solar displays spectrum density ratios, smaller ratio (relative ambient corona) loops and higher active region loops.

Collisionless Damping of Fast Mhd Waves in Magneto-rotational Winds
We propose collisionless damping of fast MHD waves as an important mechanism for the heating and acceleration of winds from rotating stars. Stellar rotation causes magnetic field lines anchored at the surface to form a spiral pattern and magneto-rotational winds can be driven. If the structure is a magnetically dominated, fast MHD waves generated at the surface can propagate almost radially out...

متن کاملNonlinear evolution of parallel propagating Alfvén waves: Vlasov - MHD simulation
Nonlinear evolution of circularly polarized Alfvén waves are discussed by using the recently developed Vlasov-MHD code, which is a generalized Landaufluid model. The numerical results indicate that as far as the nonlinearity in the system is not so large, the Vlasov-MHD model can validly solve time evolution of the Alfvénic turbulence both in the linear and nonlinear stages. The present Vlasov-...
متن کاملA fluid description for Landau damping of dispersive MHD waves
The dynamics of long oblique MHD waves in a collisionless plasma permeated by a uniform magnetic field is addressed using a Landau-fluid model that includes Hall effect and electron-pressure gradient in a generalized Ohm’s law and retains ion finite Larmor radius (FLR) corrections to the gyrotropic pressure (Phys. Plasmas 10, 3906, 2003). This one-fluid model, built to reproduce the weakly nonl...
متن کاملOn the nature of kink MHD waves in magnetic flux tubes
Context. Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves are often reported in the solar atmosphere and usually classified as slow, fast, or Alfvén. The possibility that these waves have mixed properties is often ignored. Aims. The goal of this work is to study and determine the nature of MHD kink waves. Methods. This is done by calculating the frequency, the damping rate and the eigenfunctions of MHD kink wav...
