Abstract The 2016 shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida, was mourned as an unspeakable act of violence against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community. But what perhaps less audible fact that Latinxs, particularly Puerto Ricans, who represent more than one million state’s population, were disproportionally affected. In wake tragedy, a group Rican women came together to demand translation mental health services for survivors their families. This article details public refusals be silenced from imaginary mourning loss. It also considers how multiple subject positions Ricans shape belonging both locally across transnational borders. doing so, author makes case intersectional analysis mass violence, mourning, resistance, order generate inclusive spaces just vision future.
