Wave Hydrodynamics across Steep Platform Reefs: A Laboratory Study

This paper presents a laboratory study on wave transmission across steep platform reefs, aiming at furthering knowledge of hydrodynamics and establishing empirical formulations spectral parameters the reef flat. The ultimate aim this is to determine design load fixed offshore structures coral reefs process underground strip with large front slope has been studied physical model in trough nearly 300 experimental cases combined from 05 band models many random scenarios different submerged depths. Experimental results show that abrupt transition depth deep water ahead relatively shallow responsible for difference top compared normal beach, especially regarding statistical distribution height. Breaking waves have deviated height curve deep-water (Rayleigh) theoretical distributions even existing shallow-water distributions, including effect breaking waves.
