Wave Scattering from Vertical Surface-Piercing Cylinders
This thesis describes new laboratory observations concerning the interaction between a series of steep incident waves and vertical, surface piercing, cylinders. The motivation for the study arose as a result of wave impact damage sustained to the undersides of several concrete gravity-based structures in the northern North Sea. Earlier work, Swan et al., (1997), demonstrated that in the case of...
متن کاملVertical Transition in Multilayer Millimeter Wave Module Using Circular Cavity
A novel transition structure based on Substrate Integrated Circular Cavity (SICC) is proposed in this paper. The design approach of the transition structure can also be used in other operating frequency. Good performance of flexibility and S-parameters were observed for the new transition structure. Different design tools were used to validate the design method.
متن کاملOblique Incidence Plane Wave Scattering from an Array of Circular Dielectric Cylinders
Abstract—A rigorous semi-analytical solution is presented for electromagnetic scattering from an array of circular cylinders due to an obliquely incident plane wave. The cylinders are illuminated by either TMz or TEz incident plane wave. The solution is based on the application of the boundary conditions on the surface of each cylinder in terms of the local coordinate system of each individual ...
متن کاملScattering by rings of vertical cylinders
It is 25 years since the publication of “Linton & Evans” [1] on “The interaction of waves with arrays of vertical circular cylinders”; it is their most cited joint work. The paper describes an exact method in which separation of variables and addition theorems are combined, leading to an infinite system of linear algebraic equations. The method itself is much older, and goes back to a paper by ...
متن کاملCalculations of Dihedral Groups Using Circular Indexation
In this work, a regular polygon with $n$ sides is described by a periodic (circular) sequence with period $n$. Each element of the sequence represents a vertex of the polygon. Each symmetry of the polygon is the rotation of the polygon around the center-point and/or flipping around a symmetry axis. Here each symmetry is considered as a system that takes an input circular sequence and g...
