Water-Stressed Plants Do Not Cool: Leaf Surface Temperature of Living Wall Plants under Drought Stress

چکیده
Urban green infrastructures offer thermal regulation to mitigate urban heat island effects. To gain a better understanding of the cooling ability transpiring plants at leaf level, we developed method measure time series data with miniaturized, uncalibrated infrared camera. We examined canopy temperature four characteristic living wall (Heuchera x cultorum, Bergenia cordifolia, Geranium sanguineum, and Brunnera macrophylla) under increasing drought stress compared them well-watered control group. The proved suitable evaluate differences in between different treatments. Leaf temperatures water-stressed were 6 8 °C higher than those well-watered, among species. In order cool through transpiration, vegetation must be sufficiently supplied water. Thermal cameras found useful monitor vertical greening because surface is closely related stress. usage mounted on unmanned aerial vehicles could rapid easy monitoring system cover large façades.

Leaf water potential of differentially salinized plants.
Water and osmotic potential energies were measured with thermocouple psychrometers, at intervals during a 4-week period, in growing leaves of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris, var. Blue Lake) and barley (Hordeum vulgare, var. Liberty) plants having roots equally split between 2 differentially salinized nutrient solutions. The osmotic potentials of plants with half their roots in saline solutions were a...
متن کاملThe Water Circuit of the Plants - Do Plants have Hearts ?
There is a correspondence between the circulation of blood in all higher animals and the circulation of sap in all higher plants-up to heights h of < ∼ 140 m-through the xylem and phloem vessels. Plants suck in water from the soil, osmotically through the roothair zone, and subsequently lift it osmotically again, and by capillary suction (via their buds, leaves, and fruits) into their crowns. I...

Drought stress in plants, the change (increase or decrease) in the production of plant proteins. Proteomics in recent years one of the most powerful tools that help us to study the changes in protein In order to investigate the proteome of wheat leaves in response to terminal drought, two genotypes susceptible and resistant wheat genotypes were evaluated under irrigated (non-stress) and rain-fe...
