چکیده
Drinking water quality is a critical factor affecting human health particularly in natural resource-dependent countries including Nigeria. Hydrocarbon related pollution, mining waste, microbial load, industrial discharge and other anthropogenic stressors degrade drinking coastal communities pose serious public ecological risks. This study evaluated the physicochemical properties of selected (Okerenkoko, Kurutie, Oporoza) located Gbaramatu Kingdom, Niger Delta region Nigeria, order to assess using Water Quality Index (WQI) pollution models. Nitrate, Chromium, Cadmium, Copper, Lead, Aluminium, pH, Total Hardness, Dissolved Solids, Cyanide, Residual Chlorine were measured twelve locations across three communities. The WQI results analyzed samples area indicated that they exceeded value 100, with mean pH 8.11 ± 0.32, indicating unsuitability for consumption. Nickel ranging from 0.014 0.176 mg/L residual chlorine 11.6 7407 major contributors degradation WHO recommended limit 0.02 0.25 respectively. While groundwater had better organoleptic compared surface rain water, geo-accumulation index showed sources vary moderately heavily contaminated Ni Cd. These model necessitate an urgent response local stakeholders address deterioration, such as providing alternative supplies, minimize potential risks population. Key words: index, contamination oil chemical parameters, index.

Evaluation of Surface Water Quality by NSFWQI Index and Pollution Risk Assessment, Using WRASTIC Index in 2015
Background & Aims of the Study: Water resources are useful or potentially useful. Uses of water are included agricultural, industrial, household, recreational and environmental activities. The majority of human uses require fresh water. Rivers are parts of this fresh water that play a very important role in the water cycle, acting as drainage channels for surface water. Hence, ...
متن کاملImmunization Coverage in Selected Communities in the Niger Delta, Nigeria
Background: The Expanded Program on Immunization was launched in Nigeria in 1980 but the target for immunization coverage has been elusive. As part of its social responsibilities the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) supported immunization activities in the Niger Delta region of the country. In this study a cross sectional study was carried out to estimate the coverage of BCG, OPV, DPT...
متن کاملAssessment of water quality in Blinaja River Basin (Kosovo) using the Canadian Water Quality Index (WQI)
Kosovo has limited natural water resources which should be well managed. This is recently realised through quantitative and qualitative monitoring of both surface and groundwater and by characterizing their quality according to their destination. In this paper, the Water Quality Index (WQI) developed by the Canadian Council of Environment Ministers (CCME WQI) was applied to evaluate the groundw...
متن کاملWater quality assessment in Choghakhor Wetland using water quality index (WQI)
The Choghakhor International Wetland plays an important role in preserving and protection of part of the plant and animal species in the Iranian plateau. Since the water of this wetland is utilized for different human purposes, complete periodic chemical and physical quality assessment of its water seems necessary. Water quality index (WQI) was calculated using the following eleven parameters: ...
